Game Rules
• ● Each batting inning is divided into three sessions of 2 overs each.
• ● The batters will come in pairs: 1st pair bats in overs 1-2, 2nd pair in overs 3-4, and 3rd pair in overs 5-6. Batters will continue to bat in case of dismissal with a deduction of 5 runs.
• ● Each player will compulsorily bowl one over.
• ● Males will bowl from 22 yards, and Females will bowl from 11 yards. To complete a run, the two batsmen must run 11 yards in all cases.
• ● When a female bowls to a male, the male must bat with the reverse hand.
• ● When a male bowls to a female, he needs to bowl with the reverse hand (the bowler can bowl a thrown ball when the female is batting). Underarm bowling is not allowed. Females can also throw the ball.
• ● Batting Power Over - will be decided by the batting side and taken in the first three overs. Runs scored in this over will double, while other rules remain the same.
• ● Bowling Super Over - will be decided and taken by the bowling team in the last three overs. Every dismissal will deduct 10 runs, while other rules remain the same.
• ● The ball will be considered in play if it hits any obstruction and stays in the court except when it hits the 4 or 6 zone. Batters can run to score more runs when the ball after hitting the ball in the 1-run, 2-run and 3-run zones.
• ● No zonal runs will be allowed in case of overthrows; only runs scored by running between the wickets will be allowed.
• ● Wicket-keeper has to stay behind the wickets within the allocated zone. If the keeper doesn’t stand within the zone, then the ball will be considered a No-Ball.
Dismissal
• ● The umpire will not declare the batsman out unless appealed to by the opposing team. The bowling team must appeal before bowling the next ball. LBWs will not be considered in this tournament.
• ● Catching after deflection will not be considered a dismissal.
• ● Hitting the ball outside the court directly over the net will be considered out.
• ● The batters are not allowed to change ends in case of dismissal by catch.
• ● Do-or-die ball: If the batting team's score doesn’t change for 2 consecutive legal deliveries, the next ball will be a do-or-die ball. If the batting team’s score doesn’t change after the do-or-die ball, then 5 runs will be deducted from the batting team’s score. The umpire will call for the do-or-die ball, but if the umpire forgets then it is fielding team’s responsibility to remind about it.
• ● Mankading - If the non-striker leaves the crease before the delivery of the ball and the bowler completes a delivery action then breaks the stumps with the hand holding the ball, the non-striker will be out "Mankad". A Mankad attempt should be in one continuous motion, but the ball must remain in the bowler's delivery hand throughout the Mankad attempt.
Wides/ No balls/ Dead Balls/ Byes/ Dot Balls
• ● If the ball gets out of the reach of the fielders after touching the scoring zone then only the zone runs will be awarded - no running between the wickets. In case the ball does not touch any scoring zone, no runs will be allowed to the batting team.
• ● The ball has to be bowled with one bounce. More than one bounce before the batting crease will be declared dead by the umpire. If the 2nd bounce is within the crease, it will not be considered as a dead ball.
• ● Wides, dead balls and No balls will add 2 runs to the batting team’s score. Physical runs need not be taken for these runs.
• ● Batters will get a free hit if the bowler bowls a no-ball. The batters will be considered out on No-Ball and free hit only if they are run out.
• ● All Byes are allowed.
• ● The court is divided into two halves, with the dividing line being the - NH basketball court half-line and the tennis court net. At most 3 fielders (including wk and bowler) can field in either half of the court from the moment the bowler commences their run up until the ball leaves the bowler's hand. The line is considered in the other half. Contravening this rule will result in ‘No Ball’.
General Rules
• ● Shoes have to be worn by all the players while playing.
• ● There will be 6 players in every team. An inning will comprise six overs. There will be at least 1 female team member in every team.
• ● No more than 1 marquee player can be in one team (irrespective of gender).
• ● The batting team has to decide who will open the innings and should be ready to take the pitch. Subsequently, the bowling team can determine their bowling lineup.
• ● An inning will be 30 minutes long, with a leeway of 10 minutes. Exceeding 40 minutes will attract a penalty.
• ● A bowl-out will occur in case of a tie to decide the match result.
• ● Each team must play all six overs.
• ● Under acceptable circumstances, only one change per team will be allowed. The new player must not have played for any other team at any point in the tournament. Please note that the team must fulfil the team composition criteria.
• ● The audience will stand outside the boundaries of the court.
• ● Switch hits and reverse sweeps are NOT allowed. The batters cannot score runs with these hits but will receive the penalty of 5 runs if they get dismissed in the attempt.
• ● Only fielding team players and batters can stay within the playing zone. All the others must stay out of the playing zone.
