Other Details

Tournament Format:

Ø Nominated Team will participate in this tournament. The tournament will be played in league format. Department wise teams will play against each other within four groups to find the eventual winner.

Ø Tournament will be played only by “TENNEX-Tennis” ball (yellow colour).

Ø Each innings would start with a new ball.

a. In case a ball is being lost or broken before two over’s of an innings, then new ball would be issued.

b. If lost after two overs of an innings, old ball [used] would be issued.

Ø League & Super Knock out matches will be played in 8 over each innings, Semi-final will be 10 overs & Final will be 12 overs.

Game Time:

Ø All teams will be given 5 minutes to bowl per over scheduled time to complete their allotted overs. Umpire shall give the warning to the fielding captain, if this team is running behind.

Ø A 5 minute break shall be taken between each innings in a match.

Ø Each game is scheduled to be completed in approx. 90 min, Semi-final will be 110 Min, and final will be 130 Min.

Ø Match will start on time regardless of how many players are present in the ground.

Ø Scheduled Match Timing will be shared separately.

Ø Any requests for change of match timings will not be entertained.

General Rules:

Ø A player who has played in one team is not allowed to play in another team & cannot be transferred. For only fielding you can take the player from another team if you have shortened the player or player is injured from your existing team. (Organizing Committee, umpire & captain will take the decision)

Ø Each team can field 11 players per game with 4 reserved players.

Ø The first 11 selected players will play. The reserved player will be used after announcing to the Umpire. Replaced player will only be able to participate as a fielder.

Ø The full composition of a team has to be present 30 minutes before the start of their game. Failing to do so will deem in loss of the toss.

Ø Toss will be done 15 min prior to the game start time. Captains need to see match umpires and Organizing Committee for the toss.

Ø In case both teams have missing players, then the one with more players present on the ground at the start of the game are declared toss winners.

Ø In case any team players are not on the field at the time of their match, the other team will be declared winner of the match

Ø Byes and overthrows are allowed.

Ø Runs can be scored off leg byes.

Ø There will be no LBW decision.

Ø Runner is strictly not allowed. If player get injured during the match can be retired. A runner cannot be used for a player who is injured before the start of the match / tired during the match. The runner can be used only with the discretion of the umpires depending on the reason/cause and consent from the opposition captain.

Ø A retired (declared) batsman can come back ONLY after one of the following happens.

a. 2 wickets have fallen.

b. 2 overs (12 balls) have been bowled.

Ø In case of inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances during the competition, the Organizing Committee will reschedule the games.

Ø If a match is stopped due to unforeseen circumstances, then match would be started where it was stopped.

Ø In this 8-over cricket tournament, each innings is allowed to bowl a maximum of 4 overs consecutively from one end of the pitch before switching to the other end for the remaining 4 overs. Umpires & Batsman will change the end after completion of over.

Ø Using mobile phone on field during the match is strictly prohibited.

Ø In matters of doubt not covered by the tournament rules, the decision of the tournament committee will be final and binding upon all concerned as per the standard rules.

Ø All the other ICC cricket rules are applicable as it is.

Ø Decisions of tournament committee in all points related to enforcing rules of the tournament are final and binding.

Ø Team captains are supposed to have read all these rules and inform all players of the same.

Ø The organizing committee have the right to change any of the above rules without any prior notice.

Bowling Rules:

Ø A minimum of 4 bowlers are required in every team.

Ø A bowler can bowl a maximum of 2 overs in an inning for 8 Overs ( 2-2-2-2 )

Ø A bowler can bowl a maximum of 2 overs in an inning for 10 Overs (2-2-2-2-2)

Ø A bowler can bowl a maximum of 3 overs in an inning for 12 Overs ( 3-3-3-3 )

Ø One bouncer is allowed per over, provided the ball passes between the shoulder and the head, However, ball passing over the head will be declared as a wide.

Ø Above waist high full toss ball will be called a NO Ball regardless of whether it was bowled by a fast bowler or a spinner.

Ø If the first bouncer is above head height and batsman gets out or scores runs, then it’s considered as first bouncer and it’s considered as a legal delivery. Also batsman would be declared out or scored runs would be counted respectively.

Ø All No balls shall result in a free hit. ( all foot no-balls, above waist no-balls, no balls due to fielding restriction or some other reason)

Ø Foot no –ball can be called on following conditions

a. If the bowler bowls without some part of the front foot either grounded [first grounding point] or in the air behind the popping crease

b. If the bowler back foot touches or crosses the return crease.

Ø No-ball could also be called,

a. If the bowler bowls more than one bouncer per over

b. Any delivery, which passes or would have passed on the full above waist height of the striker standing upright at the crease

c. In case if a bowler chucks during his action of bowling.

d. If field restriction rules are not followed as per the guidelines

e. If the bowler starts the over/ changes the side of the wicket from which he bowls without telling the guard to the umpire.

Ø Chucking is strictly not allowed and if batsman at strikers or non-strikers end appeals against the action it’s left to the umpires on field and organizing committee to analyse the action and if they find a problem, they could warn the bowler. If the bowler continues with the same action umpires could call a no-ball.

Ø Wicket keeper if wants to bowl, he could bowl but before that it’s his/captain’s responsibility to inform the umpire about the change of wicket keeper.

Ø This needs to be ensured by fielding captain & in case missed out umpire could call the delivery as no-ball.

Ø Dead Ball[During the course of play]: The ball shall be considered to be dead when it is clear to the umpire at the bowler's end that the fielding side and both batsmen at the wicket have ceased to regard it as in play. Whether the ball is finally settled or not is a matter for the umpire alone to decide.

Ø Length of the Pitch: Pitch length would be of 21 yards

 

 

 

 

Ø Judging a Wide:

a. Wide will be declared if the balls is outside the bounds of the wide marker. “Onthe-marker” is considered a legitimate ball.

b. Wide markers are just guidelines. If a batsman moves across and the bowler bowls a ball outside the wide marker, the umpire needs to make a judgment call if it was outside the reach of the batsman or not despite being outside the wide marker

c. 1 run is awarded to the batting team for ‘wides’ and ‘no balls’ plus an extra delivery.

Fielding Rules:

1. Maximum of 5 fielders are only allowed in on – side field at any stage of the game. [Including bowler if bowler bowls around the wicket]

2. If batsman during the course of backing up leaves the popping crease before the ball is delivered, he could be run out by bowler. First warning will be given to the batsman by bowler and fielding captain. if repeats he could be run out.

3. During the course of bowling action, fielders other than wicketkeeper are allowed to move only in forward direction but not on sideways. Umpire can call it as No ball, if this rule is violated causing distraction.

4. During the course of bowling action, fielders including wicketkeeper are not allowed to make any noise which distract the batsman. Umpire can call it as No ball, if the fielders are making such noise.

5. If the player is absent from the field for longer than 2 over, the player shall not be permitted to bowl in that innings after his return until he has been on the field for at least the number of overs for which he was absent.

6. Obstructing the field: If either batsman can be given out if he wilfully attempts to obstruct or distract the fielding side by word or action. On-field umpire’s decision would be the final one.

Batsman could be declared out,

a. When a batsman thinks that he is going to be run out and he blocks the ball with his bat or changes his line intentionally when running between wickets to block the ball.

b. The striker is out should wilful obstruction or distraction by either batsman prevent a catch being made.

Batsman cannot be called out, if

a. When a batsman is running between wickets, he does not deviate from his course and the ball hits him without the batsman blocking the ball on purpose.

Power Play:

Ø 1.First 2 overs are mandatory bowling power play & 1 over Batting power play which can be taken anytime between 3 to 6 over’s by batting team, failing to do so the 6th over will become mandatory batting power play over.

2. Only 3 players can field outside the 30 yard circle during power play over’s.

3. During the non-power play overs minimum of 4 fielders should be present within the 30 yard circle, failure to do so during a delivery of a ball would be called as a No-ball by the umpire.

Rules for super over:

Ø Rules for super over

1. The team batting second in the match will bat first in the Super Over.

2. 3 Batsmen from each team can bat and 1 bowler from each team will bowl

3. Entire fielding unit is allowed to field

4. In case super over is tied, below rules are applicable.

·        Highest Number of 6’s (main + super over)– 1st priority

·        Highest Number of 4’s (main + super over) – 2nd priority

·        Least Number of wickets fallen (main + super over) – 3rd Priority

Clothing & Uniform:

Ø Jerseys of other teams are not allowed.

Ø Players are required to wear the provided T-shirt and pants, excluding shorts.

Ø No player will be allowed to play without sports shoes and barefoot.

Ø Chapple’s, sandals, crocs, formal shoes strictly not allowed.

Umpiring and Disputes:

Ø UMPIRE’S DECISIONS ARE FINAL. Even if you do not like or agree with the decision of the umpires, you accept it and move on. No cursing, no screaming, no calling names (in any language), no filing protests, nothing that violates the spirit of the game. Period. No questions

Ø Umpires will be chosen by the organizing committee and their decision regarding the choice of umpires is final.

Ø Both Umpires and scorer will be decide the man of the match.

Ø Main umpire will have the authority to overrule leg umpires decision if he deems necessary.

Ø It is the responsibility of BOTH captains to see that decorum is maintained at all times and the spirit of the game is adhered to.

Ø The Organizing committee along with representatives of both teams and the officiating umpires shall arbitrate disputed games.

Protective Gear:

Ø The wicketkeeper is the only member of the “fielding” side permitted to wear protective gloves.

Ø Wear your own L guard to safeguard the crotch area against impact from the ball.

Prize Distribution:

Ø Apart from winner trophy there will be trophy for Runner Up, Man of the Match, Best baller, Best batsman, Best Fielder and Man of the Tournament.

Ø Prize distribution will be done after completion of Tournament.
