THE SUPER 8s CHAMPIONSHIPS 2023

RULES & REGULATIONS

1) TEAMS & PLAYERS

a) Teams can have a maximum of 10 players only each including 2 substitutes.

b) Squad list to be given to the organizers before start of the tournament.

c) Squad will not be allowed to be changed at any point of time during the tournament.

d) Teams are responsible for bringing their cricketing kit (except ball) on their own.

e) No change is allowed in the schedule and requests in this regard will not be entertained.

f) Teams should play with good spirit and players should ensure discipline inside the venue.

g) Food packets brought inside the venue should be properly disposed off after use in the trash can.

h) Smoking and chewing gum / pan, etc. are strictly prohibited inside the venue.

i) Teams are responsible for the security of their cricketing kit and other properties brought inside the venue.

j) ATTIRE – T-Shirt, Track Pants and shoes mandatory.

k) Bye runner is not allowed. Alternatively, a batsman may retire hurt or ill (on mutual consent of the captains and the officiating umpires) and may return later as the last batsman to resume his innings on recovery.

l) The umpires shall be the final judges.

m) In case of any clarifications on decisions and other on-field issues, only the captain of the team can raise the team’s issues to the umpires and not to any others.

 

n) All players should bring their ID card for verification purposes during entrance and please note that this is compulsory.

 

2) (a) POINTS

(b) In the event of teams finishing on equal points, the right to play in the next round will be determined as follows:

 

a) The team with the most number of wins.

b) If still equal, the team with the most number of wins over the other team(s) who are equal on points and have the same number of wins.

c) If still equal, the team with the highest net run rate.

d) If still equal,No of Boundaries

 

In the knockout stages, if the match ends in a TIE, winner will be decided based on SUPER OVER.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

2) (b) NET RUN RATE

 

A team’s net run rate is calculated by deducting the average runs per over scored against that team throughout the competition from the average runs per over scored by that team throughout the competition. In the event of a team being all out in less than its full quota of overs, the calculation of its net run rate shall be based on the full quota of overs to which it would have been entitled and not on the number of overs in which the team was dismissed.

 

Formula:

Average runs per over scored by a team throughout the competition - Average runs per over scored against the same team throughout the competition.

 

 

3) BALLS

a) A new ball will be provided in each inning of a match.

b) The ball should be returned to the umpire at the end of the inning / fall of wicket.

 

4) BAT-Mongoose bats / Scooped bats / Sri Lankan bats not allowed.

 

5) THE MATCH

 

a) Entrance fees for playing in the tournament are Rs. 2000 /-. Teams can participate in the tournament only after payment of entrance fee.

 

b) A team shall play a maximum of 3 matches in the ROUND ROBIN.

 

c) A break of 5 minutes will be applicable between each inning. This includes rest time and also the fielding preparation time for the team bowling second.

 

d) Teams should be present at the venue ON TIME for their match as per schedule. If the team is late by 30 minutes, then the opposite team will be deemed winners. (Any specific decision in this cause will be taken on consent of the opposite team captain)

 

e) All matches – Each inning contains 6 overs.

 

f) 5th over of each inning will be a DOUBLE DHAMAKA OVER. The total runs scored in a DOUBLE DHAMAKA OVER will be doubled (including extras). No batsman can be retired hurt in a DOUBLE DHAMAKA OVER. Bowlers cannot be changed during the middle of a DOUBLE DHAMAKA OVER.

 

g) A team should complete bowling 6 overs in a maximum of 24 minutes. An additional injury time of 3 minutes will be permitted. In calculating the actual over rate for the match, allowances will be given for the actual time lost because of any of the following:

 

· Time lost due to injury (preferred to release a substitute instead)

· Umpire consultations.

· Time wasting by the batting side.

· All other circumstances that are beyond the control of the fielding side.

 

h) Bowling - A Team must use 4 bowlers compulsorily in a match. Maximum overs eligible for a bowler is 2. In case of reduction in number of overs to be bowled due to late arrival of the opposite team, the umpires will take the call on the field.

 

i) Wicketkeeper can get relieved and immediately bowl the next over.

 

j) Free Hit Rule applies for all types of NO-BALLS.

 

k) Byes and Overthrow rules apply. Leg byes is not applicable.

 

l) One bouncer per over is allowed. The second bouncer will be NO BALL.

 

m) Over the head bouncers will be declared WIDE BALL and one bouncer from the allowed limit of bouncers will be deducted in an over.
