Rules for BCPL-2023

Team Rules

  1. Each team would comprise of the 15 players acquired through bidding. No other player will be allowed. If a team has lesser than 11 registered player, they will be forced to play with as many people. NO SUBSTITUTES WILL BE ALLOWED.
  2. Reporting Time for 1st league match everyday is 06.15 PM and toss time is 6.45 PM. If any team fails to be present for toss by 7.00 PM, the other team if present shall be given Bye. Match Start time is 7.00 PM Sharp.
  3. Reporting Time for 2nd league match everyday is 8.00 PM and toss time is 8.45 PM. If any team fails to be present for toss by 9.00 PM, the other team if present shall be given Bye. Match Start time is 9.00 PM Sharp.
  4. The finals shall start at 8.00 PM
  5. Teams are required to submit their playing 12 including Impact player, minimum 30 minutes before the toss so that the digital scorer can make appropriate entries.
  6. All the teams are required to ensure that all their playing members have a registered account on CRICHEROES App (Crickheroes should be installed on their mobiles) well before the tournament as this will be required for the digital scoring.
  7. Teams would follow the gentlemen conduct and other club rules, the Organising Committee reserves the right expel any team from the tournament if the behaviour is found inappropriate. In that unfortunate case a discipline committee (Comprising of 3 senior members) may take up the matter for hearing and final decision.
  8. All the teams shall be divided in 2 pools Pool A and B.
  9. Each team shall play 2 matches with the other team in their pool.
  10. At the end of league round the teams having highest points in each respective pool shall go to play finals on Sunday 21st May.
  11. In case the points are equal between 2 teams in the pool, the position shall be decided by the NET RUN RATE.
  12. In case more than one teams have equal points and equal Net Run Rate then the higher position shall be given to the team hitting more boundaries.
  13. In case the boundaries are also equal the higher position will be given to the team having more number of sixes.
  14. In case the no of sixes are also equal then both teams will play a super over between them.
  15. In case of teams not getting to play any match due to rain or any other reason, at least one match will be tried to be held in the day time.

Batting Rules

  1. A total of 11 batsmen may bat at maximum, there is no batting provision for the last man.
  2. There are no power plays, no field restriction
  3. There are no LBW, no Leg Bye Runs
  4. Boundaries are the walking pathways around the ground (Club Greens)
  5. Sixes are only awarded if hit straight (that is in-line with the Tin-Shade of the open dining area) and diagrammatically opposite behind the wicket.
  6. There will be certain sponsored banners on the ground, hitting them direct will award 6 runs to the batsmen. The position of the banners will be decided by the organising committee and it may be a changed before every match but can not be changed once the match has started. Playing teams or sponsors will have no right on the decision regarding the position of the banner.
  7. Rest all the shots crossing the boundary whether direct or on bounce shall be fours.
  8. Shots obstructed due to swings, open gym machines or any other fixed item on the ground shall be considered as stopped and no boundary shall be awarded, batsmen may run for the score.
  9. Balls rebound back to the ground after hitting any part of the tree (Stem or leaf) shall be considered as in the game and no boundary shall be allotted for the same, the batsmen may run for the score.
  10. Batsman hitting the shot directly outside the premise of the club (in any direction including behind the wicket) shall be ruled as OUT. The wicket shall be allotted to the bowlers.
  11. Hitting the ball outside the premise on a free hit will be NOT OUT but no runs will also be allotted for this.
  12. While hitting the ball out of the premise, brushing the leaves or stem of the tree, brushing the edge of the boundary wall or the roof of the hut shall also be considered as direct and will be declared out. However a clear bounce inside the premise, a rebound from the walls of the hut or a touch by any fielder before going out of the premise shall be considered not out. The decision of the on field umpire regarding Rule Out will be final and cannot be challenged.
  13. Each batting team will have 2 decision review via installed cameras during batting. The DRS can be taken for WIDE ball above head height, WIDE ball outside guide line, No ball (Over Stepping and Waist Height), Stumping and run out. The DRS is not applicable for Rule Out and Caught Behind.
  14. NO BATS OTHER THAN WOODEN (WILLOW) BAT WILL BE ALLOWED. Please don’t bring Fibre or Aluminium bats.
  15. For all other rules the IPL rule book may be referred if required.

Bowling Rules

  1. For every inning each bowler can bowl a maximum of 3 overs
  2. For the league matches of 12 overs it is mandatory to introduce at least 5 bowlers, the only 4 bowlers have bowled till 11th over, none of those four can bowl the final over making it mandatory for the 5th bowler to bowl.
  3. Rule out wicket as explained in the batting rules shall be allotted to the bowler’s tally.
  4. The bowling side has 2 reviews available during their bowling. The DRS can be taken for WIDE ball above head height, WIDE ball outside guide line, No ball (Over Stepping and Waist Height), Stumping and run out. The DRS is not applicable for Rule Out and Caught Behind.
  5. One bouncer can be bowled per over as per international rules.
  6. Chucking in bowling action is strictly not allowed. The umpires may give the ball as no ball and stop the bowler to bowl further in the match.
  7. The ball following any type of no-ball is a free-hit.
  8. For all other rules the IPL rule book may be referred if required.
