Program of Festive Events 200 Years Month of April
The anniversary year 2023 marks the revival but also the historical and cultural prominence and importance of the sport in Greece.

April 23, 2023 marks 200 years since the first Cricket game in Corfu. The sport appears historically in Greece for the first time in Corfu, which was under English occupation, on April 23, 1823 with a game between the officers of the British Navy.

The teenage Corfiots, and even the adults of that time, were enticed by this gentle and calm recreational team game and showed great interest in learning it, and the English for their part were happy to teach and spread it. From then until today Cricket is an integral part of the history, sports, local society and cultural heritage of Corfu.

The high value of the sport derives from its multi-talented contribution to sports and tourism, but also from its high global recognition (3rd most popular sport) but above all from its historicity. The establishment and recognition by the State of our Panhellenic Federation based in Corfu, to the exclusion of all other Federations based in Athens, is not accidental.

The account of our actions is more or less known. Hosting international European events, organization of world school tournaments, attracting important visitors to the island for the events, annual attraction of foreign teams to the island due to the sport, visit of journalists, writers and many more important figures of the world.

With the anniversary value and the importance of 200 years as history but also as modernity as it has been shaped up to today over the years, the planned events will be held in the month of April. The groups that will visit Corfu symbolize the significance and importance of the events. Two British Army Cricket teams accompanied by senior officials, the Royal Palace team,

the Cricket team of the British Parliament and the team of Lord's Taverners one of the most populous and popular - institutions with sports and voluntary action will visit Corfu from 17-24 April to participate in the events both sports and cultural.
