CRICKET TOURNAMENT - RULES


Reporting time at venues 7:00 AM [10th March] & 7:30 AM [11th March]
Tournament will be played on 2 Grounds.

 

 

 

GENERAL RULES

➢ Applicable only for Ribbon Employees
➢ A player who has played in one team will not be allowed to play in another team.
➢ For any replacements - can be included in the team
➢ Details of Playing XI & Substitutes should be declared during the TOSS
➢ All matches in this tournament would be played with Green Tennis ball
➢ Each innings would start with a new ball.
➢ League matches would be of 8 overs & knockout will be of 10 / 12 overs a side.

 

 

 

 

REPORTING TIME RULES

➢ Team should report 45 minutes prior to the scheduled match start time
➢ Toss would be held 30 minutes prior to the scheduled match start time
➢ Minimum of 7 players are required from a team to start the match. Failure to do so would yield a walkover to the opposition team.
➢ Remaining players must arrive within 5 overs. In case of a further delay in reporting: only the fielded 7 would be allowed to bat in case of delay in start of the match due to late arrival of team

 

 

PLAYING RULES

➢ Chucking / Throwing actions are not allowed
➢ On-field umpire’s decision would be the final decision. It is captain’s responsibility to uphold spirit of the game by his team.
➢ Any prolonged argument by a team, would yield a walkover to the opposition team based on the decision by umpires and organizers
➢ If any team walks out of the ground on protest during the playtime, the team will be disqualified from the tournament
➢ For every win, a team would get 2 points and losing team won’t get any points
➢ Walkover- 2 points to the team reporting for play and this match will not be taken for calculation of NRR
➢ In case of a tie in the league stages each team would get 1 point each. In knockout matches if a tie happens Super over would be held
➢ Rules for super over
o i). The team batting second in the match will bat first in the Super Over.
o ii) 3 Batsmen from each team can bat and 1 bowler from each team will bowl
o iii). Entire fielding unit is allowed to field
In case super over is tied, below rules are applicable
• 1st Priority: Highest Number of 6’s (main super over),
• 2nd Priority: Highest Number of 4’s (main super over),
• 3rd Priority: Least Number of wickets fallen (main super over)
In league stages if two teams are tied with same points, NRR would be taken into account and the team which has a better NRR would move to the knockout stage
NET RUN RATE: TOTAL RUNS SCORED divided by TOTAL OVERS FACED [subtracted by] TOTAL RUNS CONCEDED TOTAL OVERS BOWLED

If a match is stopped due to rain, then match would be started where it was stopped. Any requests for change of match timings will not be entertained.
In matters of doubt not covered by the tournament rules, the decision of the tournament committee will be final and binding upon all concerned as per the standard rules

 

 

POWERPLAY RULES

➢ First 2 Overs [League Matches - 8 overs], First 3 overs [Quarter Final / Semi Final - 10 overs], First 4 overs [Final - 12 overs]
➢ Only 2 players can field outside the 30 yard circle during power play over’s
➢ During the non-powerplay overs minimum of 4 fielders should be present within the 30 yard circle, failure to do so during a delivery of a ball would be called as a No-ball by the umpire
POINT DISTRIBUTION FOR LEAGUE MATCHES
➢ Winning team: 2 points
➢ Losing team: 0 points
➢ Match Tied: If the league match is tied, each team will get 1 point each.

 

 

SUBSTITUTION RULES

➢ Only 2 substitutions per match
➢ A substitute won’t be allowed to bat or bowl. They can do wicket-keeping.
➢ Involving a substitute will require Umpire & opponent team Captain’s consent

 

 

BOWLING RULES

Bowler has to inform the Umpire when he starts to bowl / changes his bowling style
➢ League matches: 8 Overs Match: Any bowler can bowl a max of 2 overs each
➢ Quarter/Semi Final:10 Overs Match:Only 2 Bowlers are allowed to bowl a max of 3 overs each
➢ FINAL: 12 Overs Match: Any bowler can bowl a max of 3 overs each

 

 

BATTING RULES

➢ The batsman will play at both the ends and after the completion of over, umpires will change the positions.
Free Hit
o The delivery following a NO BALL called for any reasons mentioned shall be a FREEHIT for whichever batsman is facing it
o For any free hit, the striker can be dismissed only under the circumstances that apply for a NO-BALL
o Field changes are not permitted for free hit deliveries unless batsmen have crossed their positions.
➢ Who will be on strike? New batters will be on strike for the next ball even if the players in the middle cross while a catch is taken.

 

 

BYRUNNER RULES

➢ No runner will be allowed for any batsman, if the batsman is injured, he will need to be declared as retired hurt and can come back if he finds himself fit. Runner will not be allowed even for pre-medical conditions.

 

 

FIELDING RULES:

➢ Only 2 players can field outside the 30 yard circle during power play over’s
➢ During the non-powerplay overs minimum of 4 fielders should be present within the 30 yard circle, failure to do so during a delivery of a ball would be called as a No-ball by the umpire

 

 

WICKET-KEEPING RULES:

➢ Glows are allowed for wicket keepers.
➢ Wicket Keeping can be changed after informing Umpires [should be within the Playing XI]
➢ Wicket Keeper can bowl [Bowling Rules Apply]

 

 

EXTRA RUN RULES

➢ Wide Ball / No Ball will be awarded 1 run to the batting team as EXTRAS
➢ Additional Bowl to be bowled in these circumstances to complete the over.

 

 

MANKADING

➢ Law 41.16. 1 clearly says that if a non-striker is out of the crease before the “ball comes into play”, the bowler has every right to run the non-striker
➢ Allowed after 1 warning.
➢ Umpire’s Decision is Final

 

 

TIMING RULES

➢ Each innings will be of 40 minutes [8 overs], 45 minutes [10 overs], 60 minutes [12 overs]
➢ Each innings will have 2 minutes Strategic Time out after completing of 4 overs
➢ If more than 5 additional minutes are taken to complete the bowling quota, 1 over penalty will be deducted to chasing team.
➢ If the Team Bowling in 2nd Innings did not complete the quota over within the stipulated time, we will look at NRR after 5 additional minutes are taken. We are yet to arrive at final decision on this. But we will have some rules set for this scenario.

 

 

IMPORTANT [Applicable at all times]:

1. Any rule not included will be as per international rules and it will be umpires decision or organizing committee’s decision.
2. Decisions taken by Umpire will be final and should be accepted by all
