The maiden edition  of this competition for Secondary schools in South East, Nigeria was in 2018 at Government Secondary School Afipko, Ebonyi State, where  Imo state team emerged champions after beating  Anambra  team. In 2019,  Ebonyi  state beat Anambra  state at Boys Secondary School Awkunawnaw, Enugu State in the second edition. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, the competition could not hold in 2020. Imo state is to host the 2021 edition.   

The championship is an avenue for cricket talent discovery in the south east. In this edition, we will be featuring female cricket, encouraging women in sports in the zone and in Nigeria.
