If a team is unable to field a minimum of 5 players for a match, they forfeit that match.

ELIGIBILITY

Players who are current members of the Men’s Hong Kong National squads are not permitted to participate in the DMET CRICKET SIXES 2025. A person who has played Test Cricket, First Class, ODI, List ‘A’ or T20I Cricket in the last 24 months is not permitted to participate in the DMET CRICKET SIXES.

BATTING RULES

Normal cricket batting rules apply. Once a batsman reaches an individual score of 24 or above, he must retire.

When one batsman of the last pair is out, any retired batsmen may resume their innings in the order of their retirement and bat until they are out, or the allotted 5 overs have been completed.

Upon the final wicket falling, the remaining NOT OUT batsman may continue batting with the batsman who was the final wicket – This batsman will be only act as a running partner, however, he is eligible to be run-out!

Once all 8 batsmen are out, the batting team renders their innings closed, regardless of any balls or overs remaining. Should a team only be able to field 5 players, the above rules apply but only for 5 batsmen.

Batsmen at the crease must always wear helmets during their innings.

BOWLING RULES

Only outfield players must bowl one over each. The wicket keeper is not allowed to bowl.

Each over will consist of 6 balls, including WIDES and NO BALLs (except the last over of the innings).

Any bowler who bowls a ball bouncing over the batsman’s head will receive one warning from the umpire. Upon two warnings, they will not be allowed to complete their over and a penalty of 10 runs be added to the batting teams score.

In the event of a bowler not being allowed to complete their over, the current batting pair will be allowed to nominate any of the remaining outfield players to complete the over.

The bowler who has been nominated will not be allowed to bowl another over. He will only bowl out the remainder of the over.

Under-arm bowling is prohibited.

The maximum run up for bowlers will be 6 meters and this will be clearly marked by a white line.

WICKET KEEPER

One player must keep wickets for the entire innings. Wicket-keeping gloves must be worn when the ball is being bowled. Pads are optional. Change of wicketkeeper during an innings is not permitted (unless injured during the innings).
SCORING RUNS
Scoring Boundaries (4 or 6 runs) and running between the wickets remain as normal cricket rules.

NO BALLs count as 2 runs to the batting team PLUS any additional runs scored by the batsman (e.g. a NO BALL is bowled and the batsman hits the ball for 4 runs across the boundary rope – the team will receive 2 runs for the NO BALL and 4 runs for the boundary, thus 6 runs in total). No Extra Ball will be incurred upon the bowling of a NO BALL (except the final over of the innings).

WIDES count as 4 runs to the batting team plus any byes (i.e. 8 would be scored if a wide was bowled and it went for a boundary). No Extra Ball will be incurred upon the bowling of a wide (except the final over of the innings).

NO BALL

A NO BALL against the bowler will be called for one of the following:
Overstepping the crease
A ball that bounces over the shoulder height of the batsman (in a normal batting stance)
A ball that is bowled without bouncing, passing above the waist of the batsman (in normal batting stance)
A ball that pitches less than halfway down the wicket (umpires judgment).
A ball that pitches outside of the 22 yards pitch

WIDE

A WIDE is given when a ball passes the batting crease outside the lines marked either side of the stumps. Each Wide constitutes 4 extra runs being added to the batting team’s score.

INJURIES

A Batsman may have a runner, only if he is affected by injury (during the game), preventing him to run, and with the permission of the opposing team Captain.

An injured fielder may be substituted, but this substitute will not be allowed to bowl.
