GEP Premier Cricket League 2025 - RULES AND REGULATIONS
Common Rules
The decision of the on-field umpires will be final and binding.
Any controversy or objections will not be entertained.
One official scorer will maintain records for every match, which will be considered final.
The tournament will be played with a light tennis ball.
Players can use their own wooden bats; fiber bats are strictly NOT allowed.
Each team will have 9 players.
Matches will be played in a 5-over-a-side format.
A bowler can bowl a maximum of 1 over.
The team captain must ensure that all 12 players participate in at least one match during the league stage. Failure to comply will lead to disqualification.
Both openers cannot bowl in the same match.
All players who have received team T-shirts must be present for all their matches.
Powerplay: Batting teams can opt for one Powerplay over, chosen before the end of the previous over (between the 2nd and 4th over). During this over, only one fielder is allowed on the boundary.
Impact Player: A substitute player can be introduced at any point in the match (optional usage).
Declared Runs
4 or 6 runs will be awarded if the ball hits the net directly opposite the batsman.
All other runs must be taken by running between the wickets.
If the ball deflects off the side nets and hits the boundary net, 4 runs will be awarded.
Fielding Restrictions
A maximum of 5 fielders can be positioned behind the bowler.
3 players can be on the boundary, while 2 must be positioned between the bowler and boundary fielders.
2 fielders must be stationed between the bowling and batting ends.
Modes of Dismissal
Bowled - If the bowler hits the stumps.
Caught - If the fielding team catches the ball in the air.
Stumped - If the batsman is stumped by the wicketkeeper.
Run-out - If either batsman is run out by the fielding team.
Stumping on a no-ball is NOT valid.
If the keeper collects the ball before it passes the stumps, the stumping is not valid.
Extras & No-Balls
Wide & No-Ball: 1 extra run each.
Additional runs for No-Balls, Wides, Byes, Leg Byes, and Overthrows apply.
No-Ball Conditions:
Full toss above waist height.
Full toss directly behind the stumps (wicketkeeper).
Ball bouncing above batsman’s shoulder after the first bounce.
Bowler stepping on or over the bowling crease.
Ball pitching outside the playing area.
Changing the bowling side or wicketkeeper without notifying the umpire.
Run-out on a No-Ball counts as both a run and a wicket.
Run-out on a Wide counts as both a run and a wicket.
Bowling Rules
The bowler's feet must be within the designated box while bowling.
Side-arm bowling is not allowed; any such delivery will be considered a No-Ball.
The bowler’s arm/wrist must be below waist height while delivering the ball.
Arguing with the on-field umpire regarding this rule is not permitted.
Batting Rules
At least one foot must remain inside the batting crease before the ball is released.
Points Calculation & Match Progression
Group Stage
Win = 2 Points
In case of a tie:
One Super Over will be played.
If still tied, the team with more boundaries wins.
If still tied, the team losing fewer wickets wins.
If still tied, the team that won the toss will be declared the winner.
Knockout Stages
Quarter Finals
QF1: Winner of Group A-1 vs. Winner of Group B-2
QF2: Winner of Group B-1 vs. Winner of Group A-2
QF3: Winner of Group C-1 vs. Winner of Group D-2
QF4: Winner of Group D-1 vs. Winner of Group C-2
In case of a tie:
One Super Over.
If still tied, a second Super Over will be played.
If still tied, Group Stage tie-breaker rules apply.
Semi-Finals
SF1: Winner of QF1 vs. Winner of QF3
SF2: Winner of QF2 vs. Winner of QF4
In case of a tie: Follow Quarter Final rules.
Final
In case of a tie:
One Super Over.
If still tied, a second Super Over.
If still tied, a third Super Over.
If still tied, Group Stage tie-breaker rules apply.
Important Note:
All teams must report at least 20 minutes before their scheduled match.
