The 10th edition of South East Cricket Championship for Chuma Anosike Cup will hold from 11th to 15th of March 2020 at the Paul University Field, Awka, Anambra state.
The championship which started in 2011 is the most anticipated senior cricket event in the south east, Nigeria.
Imo State hosted the maiden edition in 2011, Enugu State (UNN) hosted in 2012, Anambra State in 2013, Ebonyi State in 2014, Abia state in 2015, Enugu state in 2016, Anambra state in 2017, Imo state in 2018, Ebonyi state in 2019, and Anambra is to host in 2020.
According to the records, University of Nigeria Nsukka (Enugu State representatives) won the maiden edition in 2011 as well as the 2012 edition.
In 2013, Anambra State dethroned the Lions of UNN. In 2014 the UNN team took back the mantle and retained same the following year and won the cup for keeps in 2016.
In 2017, Imo State outclassed all teams to win the trophy for the first time before UNN bounced back to victory in 2018.
During the last year's event held at Government Secondary School, Afikpo, the young and determined boys from Anambra shocked all the teams and went home with the highly coveted trophy.
The battle line has been drawn on who will win the 10th edition of the championship which is being marked with 10th year anniversary of Chuma Anosike cup.
On the women category, Ebonyi Queens will also defend the trophy they won in their home soil in 2018 after dethroning Anambra who won the maiden edition the previous year.
Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi and Enugu states have signed up to participate in this year’s landmark edition. The edition will also feature the female edition as before.
