WIDES:
7. Normal wides are called on the offside of the striker . When umpiring juniors, consider the size of the
striker .
Any player must be able to play a proper cricket stroke to a fair ball.
Leg-side wides: If a bowler bowls a ball down the leg side, which does not come into contact with either
the striker's person or bat, he is charged with a 'normal wide' for the first time & must bowl it again.
Upon bowling a second delivery as above, the umpire shall call & signal 'Dead Ball' & the batting team
will be awarded four (4) penalty runs. The bowler must bowl an additional delivery for each such 'Dead
Ball'
. The striker cannot create a wide by moving from a normal position at the crease.
NO BALLS:
8. Any ‘No balls’ during delivery will mean a normal ‘free hit’ by the striker . If a ‘free hit’ is wide or no
ball, another free hit will be called. Normal BCMCL No balls are called, but if any no ball delivery hits the
stumps, the ball shall be deemed ‘dead’ immediately. In this case, Run outs are not permitted & byes will
not be scored, but the ball will be re-bowled & will be a ‘free hit’
. (2016-03-13 delegates)
