Baidyanath Nath Memorial Trophy Cricket Tournament started in the year 2001. It is an inter-school competition under the District Sports Association, Silchar. In many ways it is the first tournament which set the benchmark. Baidyanath trophy is the first prize money tournament of DSA. Color dress and white ball used in this tournament for the first time at Silchar. Sri Bijay Krishna Nath, Chairman is a sports enthusiastic person and the tournament is in memory of his father Late Baidyanath Nath, who was the founder of Jugasankha Newspaper. The tournament got hype due to continuos backing of DSA officials especially Sri Arijit Gupta, former cricket secretary. Sri Nilothpol Choudhury ( Executive director of Jugasankha), Sri Nokul Mondol (former Sports Editor of Jugasankha) and Md Taz Uddin (Sports Editor of Jugasankha) also played important role to promote the tournament. As a result, the tournament is in its 18th year without interruption. Generally it is a league cum knockout event. But, due to late starting and rainy season, this year it will be totally knockout tournament. Do enjoy the tournament. Best wishes to all.
