The BCCI in India has approved the inclusion of two new teams at the Indian Premier League at its 89th Annual General Meeting in Ahmedabad on Thursday (December 24). The decision, agreed in principle, will see the tournament expand into a 10-team event starting from the 2022 season. The IPL Governing Council has been asked to work out the details for the process of inclusion of the two new teams and the structure thereafter.

Rajiv Shukla took over as the vice president of BCCI after the position was left vacant following Mahim Verma's exit earlier in the year.
Matters with ICC
Jay Shah, the BCCI secretary, was appointed as BCCI's representative to the ICC.
Domestic cricket
The members also agreed in principle that the domestic cricketers should be compensated even if there are any loss of matches.
