Four overs POWERPLAY.
• To mitigate ground conditions, the powerplay of 4 overs can be used anytime in the first 8 overs of
the batting innings. It has to be used in a block of 4 overs in continuation.
• The batting captain will inform the main umpire before the beginning of the over if he wants to
use the powerplay for the next 4 overs.
• If undeclared by the end of the 4th over, then overs 5,6,7 and 8 will automatically become
powerplay.
• During the powerplay only 2 (two) fielders can be outside the inner circle. This means apart from
the bowler and the keeper, 7 players have to be inside the circle in the four overs.
• These two players can be on any side of the ground in but it has to work in consonance with the
rule of not having more than 5 players on either on or off side.
• Having more than two players will be declared a NO ball. A FREE-HIT will follow this No-Ball
call.
Above shoulder bouncer :
If in the judgment of the neutral umpires the ball, after bouncing has passed or would have
passed over the batsman’s shoulder if he were in an upright position, then either of the two
umpires shall call and signal a NO-BALL. Even if the batsman steps out of the crease,
the ball can be called a no ball, based on the judgment of the umpires that it
WOULD have been above the batsman’s shoulder, had he remained in his crease in
an upright position.
NOTE: The neutral umpire at bowlers-end can over-rule the NO-BALL call made by the
Striker side umpire
