One of the most prestigious and celebrated tournaments of India Pro Star League 2018 - a platform promoting cricket talent at grassroot level in India was organized at Mumbai in the month of May’18.
Over 900 school teams from across India participated in this tournament. The 2 finalist teams, which battled for the final glory were I.E.S VN Sule Guruji English Medium School from Mumbai and Sanskar School team from Jaipur. An all-important final of this much followed tournament was played on 17th May’18 at D.Y. Patil University Ground- Navi Mumbai.
Sanskar School won the toss and elected to field. The decision did not go much in their favour as I.E.S VN Sule Guruji English Medium School comfortably placed 115 runs at the end of 20 overs by losing 9 wickets. Opening batsman Shubham Girkar gave team a good start as he smashed 40 runs off 35 balls with 4 boundaries and 1 six. However, remaining players failed to stay for long on the crease and team started to lose wickets at regular intervals. Pick of the bowlers was Prince Singh Rathore from Sanskar School, who picked 2 wickets in 4 overs giving only 12 runs. Kapis Chaudhary and Dev Yadav too bowled well and restricted the opponent from putting up a high score.
Chasing 116 to win, Sanskar School started to fumble from early overs. None of the players managed to go beyond 10’s against aggressive bowling attack from I.E.S VN Sule Guruji English Medium School. Highest scorer was Kapis Chaudhary, who managed 15 runs in 16 balls. Aayugh Zimare from I.E.S VN Sule Guruji English Medium School stunned one and all by his exceptional bowling skills as he bowled 3 maiden overs out of 4 giving only 2 runs and snapped 3 important wickets hampering Sanskar School’s batting line up terribly. Atharva Bhosale and Aditya Pawar too bowled at very low economy rate and picked 2 wickets each. Sanskar School ended up scoring 68 runs at the end of 20 overs with the loss of 9 wickets.
I.E.S VN Sule Guruji English Medium School registered a glorious 47 runs win against Sanskar School in the final of Pro Star League 2018.
Aayugh Zimare from I.E.S VN Sule Guruji English Medium School was awarded as the player of the match.
