One of the most prestigious and oldest tournaments of Gujarat- 78th Ebrahim Shield Cricket Tournament 2017-18 was organized between 25th Oct.’18 to 30th Apr.’18 at Surat.
25 teams from various verticals participated in this tournament. The crucial final of this much cherished tournament was played between D C Patel and C.B. Patel on 13th May’18 at Rander Islam Gymkhana Ground- Surat.
Electing to bat, D C Patel came up with a strong batting line up, where almost all the players scored at fast rate. Highest scorers were Smeet Patel and Jwalant Prajapati, who made 48 and 46 runs respectively. With all the players contributing well, team registered a good score of 203 runs at the end of 30 overs after losing 6 wickets. Bowling highlight of the innings was Bhupendra C Patel from C B Patel, who scalped 3 wickets in 6 overs by giving only 21 runs restricting opponent from putting up a big score.
While chasing, C.B.Patel too played a good innings and gave a strong fight till the end. Despite facing some early blows, team continued to add to the score steadily. Harnesh Trivedi played extremely well as he smashed 81 runs off 76 balls with 6 boundaries and 4 sixes put team in a strong position. However, he failed to get required support from the other end and team went on losing wickets at regular intervals. Almost all the bowlers of D C Patel did a good job but show stealer was Akshay Patel, who bowled 6 overs and picked 2 wickets by giving only 19 runs. Despite trying really well, C. B. Patel failed to score at required pace and ended up scoring 184 runs at the end of 30 overs with the loss of 9 wickets.
D C Patel won the final of 78th Ebrahim Shield Cricket Tournament 2018 by 19 runs against C. B.Patel.
