One of the most prestigious tournaments of Silchar- Baidyanath Memorial U-15 Inter School Cricket Knockout Competition 2017-18 organized by DSA Silchar was played between 1st Apr.’18 to 10th Apr.’18.
16 teams from various schools of Silchar participated in this much celebrated tournament from which, the final was played between New Oxford HS School and Govt. Boys HS School on 10th Apr.’18 at DSA Silchar Ground.
Govt. Boys HS School won the toss and elected to field. Proving their decision right, they managed to restrict New Oxford HS School at the score of 76 runs in 15 overs with the loss of 5 wickets. Batting first, New Oxford HS School got a good start with opening batman Abhishek Deb scoring 32 runs in 37 balls with 3 boundaries. However, remaining players failed to make a mark and team started to lose wickets at regular intervals. The other major contributor was Sahanaur Alom Mazumder, who chipped in with important 20 runs during crucial overs. Bowling highlight of the innings were Amjad Hussain Laskar and Akram Hussain Mazumder from Govt.Boys HS School, who picked 2 wickets each restricting opponent team from putting up a big score.
While replying, Govt. Boys HS School did not manage to get a good start and lost some important wickets in early overs. However, stable partnership between Amjad Hussain Laskar (14) and Parikshit Banik (29) gave team a much needed boost. However, despite trying really well, Govt. Boys HS School fell short of 5 runs and ended up scoring 71 runs in 15 overs losing 6 wickets. Sahin Alam Barbhiya’s effective bowling was the main reason behind the victory of New Oxford HS School. He took 3 important wickets during crucial overs giving only 13 runs, which restricted Govt.Boys HS School from achieving the target.
New Oxford HS School won the final by 5 runs against Govt. Boys HS School in Baidyanath Nath Memorial U 15 Inter School Cricket Knockout Competition 2017-18.
