Gesia Sports League 2018- organized by Gesia IT Association was played between 9th Feb.’18 to 25th Feb.’18 at Ahmedabad.
Out of the 16 participant teams, the crucial final was played between two of the strongest teams of the tournament- SOPHOS and INDIANIC on 25th Feb.’18 at SGVP Cricket Ground- Ahmedabad.
SOPHOS won the toss and elected to bat. Decision did not go in their favour as team failed to put up a good score for the final. Wickets started to fall from early overs and most of the players scored in single digits. Highest scorers were Anup Nair and Gaurang Raval with 28 and 25 runs respectively. Team ended up scoring 88 runs in 25 overs with the loss of 8 wickets. Rakesh Kahar from INDIANIC was the major reason behind the low score of SOPHOS as he scalped 5 important wickets in 6 overs by giving only 13 runs restricting them from scoring freely.
While chasing, INDIANIC got a good start with opening batsman Kushang Modi scoring 41 runs off 53 balls. Since the score was not very high, INDIANIC chased down the target in 15.5 overs by losing 4 wickets. Pick of the bowlers was Yudhisthir Bhatt from SOPHOS, who took 2 wickets in 1.5 overs.
INDIANIC won the final of Gesia Sports League 2018 by 6 wickets against SOPHOS.
