KPL- Kirc Premier League 2018 was organized between 8th Feb.’18 to 16th Feb.’18 at Kalol.
36 teams from various sections of KIRC institute participated in this tournament. An all important final of this much celebrated tournament was played on 16th Feb.’18 at KIRC Campus Ground- Kalol between Electrical Sem 7 and KIT Lions.
Electrical Sem 7 won the toss and elected to bat. Team played a good innings and scored 128 runs in 14 overs with the loss of 6 wickets. Major contributor was Captain Dhruv Trivedi, who scored unbeaten 40 runs off 22 balls with 3 boundaries and 2 sixes. Opening batsman Arjun Maheriya too played well as he scored 26 runs in 17 balls. Bowling highlight of the innings was Ajaysinh Thakor from KIT Lions, who took 3 wickets in 4 overs.
While chasing, KIT Lions started well with opening batsman Ajaysinh Thakor smashing 67 runs in 31 balls with 5 fours and 6 sixes. However, he failed to get support from the other end and wickets started to fall at regular intervals. None of the remaining players went beyond 10’s and despite of Ajaysinh’s outstanding efforts, team fell short of just 1 run for achieving the target. Team closed at 127 runs at the end of 14 overs with the loss of 9 wickets. Harshil Nayak from Electrical Sem 7 bowled extremely well as he took 4 important wickets during crucial overs restricting opponent from winning the final.
It was a nail-biting final won by Electrical Sem 7 by 1 run against KIT Lions in KPL- Kirc Premier League 2018.
