28th Banas Trophy 2018 was organized between 17th Dec.’18 to 4th Feb.’18 at Surat.
14 teams from various locations participated in this much celebrated tournament. Held at Lalbhai Contractor Stadium-Surat, the final was played between Deesa Samaj and Vaav Panthak on4th Feb.’18.
Deesa Samaj won the toss and elected to bat. Jigar P Virani started well by scoring steady 27 runs in 39 balls with 4 boundaries. However, team lost some important wickets too in the early overs. Mox Variya, who came on 3rd position to bat scored unbeaten 52 in 43 runs, which helped Deesa Samaj to close their innings at a reasonable score of 130 runs in 20 overs by losing 6 wickets. Aditya D Wadecha from Vaav Panthak was the pick of the bowlers with 2 wickets.
While replying, Vaav Panthak failed to get a good start and their first wicket in the very first over of the innings. However, the strong partnership between Viren K Doshi (41) and Sahil N Mehta (27) helped team scoring 114 runs at the end of 20 overs after losing 4 wickets. Team fell short of 16 runs from achieving their target.
Deesa Samaj won the final of 28th Banas Trophy 2017-18 by 16 runs against Vaav Panthak.
