Urja Cup 2017 was organized between 27th Jan.’18 and 1st Feb.’18 at Vadodara.
18 teams from different verticals participated in this tournament. Held at Motibaug Cricket Ground- Vadodara, the final was played between GSCELUkai and GNFC Bharuch on 1st Feb.’18.
GNFC Bharuch won the toss and elected to field. Team failed to restrict the opponent team as GSECL Ukai played a wonderful innings and scored 141 runs in 20 overs by losing 5 wickets. Major contributor was NK Patel, whose unbeaten 66 in 59 balls helped team to reach at a good score. Jatin Patel from GNFC Bharuch was the pick of the bowler, who took 3 wickets in 4 overs.
While replying, GNFC Bharuch did not get a good start and started to lose wickets from early overs. None of the players managed to stand for long against effective bowling of GSECL Ukai. Wickets fell at regular intervals interrupting the run flow and team ended up scoring 113 runs at the end of 20 overs with the loss of 9 wickets. Highest scorer was Chetan Patel with 27 runs. Though all the bowlers of GSECL Ukai did a good job, bowling highlight of the innings was JM Mehta, who took 3 wickets in 4 overs by giving 13 runs.
GSECL won the final of Urja Cup 2017 by 28 runs against GNFC Bharuch.
