One of the most cherished tournaments of Ahmedabad- Chints- Gulmohar Green Cricket Carnival 2017-18 was organized by Gulmohar Greens Golf and Country Club between 26th Dec.’17 to 31st Jan.’18 at Gulmohar Club-Ahmedabad.
15 teams from various verticals participated in this tournament from which, the final was played between 2 of the strongest teams- GGIS XI and Surfex International XI on 31st Jan.’18.
Surfex International XI won the toss and elected to field. Batting first, GGIS XI did not get a good start as wickets started to fall from early overs. However, strong partnership between Parth Shah (37) and Shivam Shah (20) helped team reach at a reasonable score of 111 runs at the end of 20 overs by losing 4 wickets. Pick of the bowlers was Aditya Patel from Surfex International XI, who took 2 wickets in 4 overs.
While replying, Surfex International XI did not get a chance to score freely against the strong bowling attack from GGIS XI. No one except Udit Shah (24) managed to score beyond 20 runs. Wickets fell in quick succession after his dismissal, and team collapsed making 48 runs in 14.3 overs. Chief wrecker was Anuj Vasant from GGIS XI, who took 6 wickets in 3.3 overs damaging the batting line up of Surfex International XI completely. Chintan Sheth too bowled well as he took 2 wickets in 2 overs by giving only 5 runs.
GGIS XI won the final with huge margin of 63 runs against Surfex International XI in Chints - Gulmohar Greens Cricket Carnival 2017-18.
