New Year Cup was organized between 16th Jan.’18 to 21st Jan.’18 at Mysore.
Out of the 12 participant teams, the final of this tournament was played between NS Royal Mysore and Rainbow CC on 21st Jan.’18 at Railway Ground-Mysore.
NS Royals Mysore won the toss and elected to bat. Team started well with opening batsman Parveez Nsroyals scoring 65 runs in 48 balls followed by Mohamman Sulaiman and Harish Ali adding 32 and 36 runs respectively at a good pace. With the strong batting performance, team ended up scoring 190 runs at the end of 20 overs by losing 9 wickets. Pick of the bowlers was Majid Hasnain Khan from Rainbow CC, who took 2 wickets in 3 overs.
While replying, Rainbow CC tried well but failed to score at a required pace. Team started well with Imran scoring 34 runs in 27 balls. However, Bolwers of NS Royals Mysore succeeded in taking wickets at regular intervals slowing down the run flow. Most of the players did not go beyond 10’s and 20’s and team ended up scoring 151 runs at the end of 20 overs after losing 9 wickets. Bowling highlight of the innings was Syed Afridi from NS Royals Mysore, who took 3 wickets in 4 overs.
NS Royals Mysore won the final by 39 runs against Rainbow CC in New Year Cup.
