Gujarat University Ahmedabad Zone Inter College Cricket Tournament 2017-18 was organized between 7th Nov.’17 to 15th Dec.’17. 48 teams from different colleges of Ahmedabad participated in this tournament.
Final of this most cherishes tournament was held at AES Cricket Ground, Ahmedabad on 15th Dec.’17 between JGCC (GU) and RJTC (GU).
RJTC (GU) won the toss and elected field. Proving the decision right, they restricted JGCC (GU) at the score of 166/8 at the end of first innings. Highest scorers were Yash Doshi and Vivek Patel with 45 and 32 runs respectively. Manan Hingrajia from RJTC (GU) bowled effectively as he took 2 wickets in 8 overs by giving only 24 runs.
RJTC (GU) failed to get a good start as they lost some important wickets in early overs. However, Captain Manan Hingrajia and Jayveersinh Parmar played a good innings with 88 and 50 runs respectively. Team closed their innings at 185 runs after losing all wickets. Yash Doshi from JGCC (GU) was the pick of the bowlers, who scalped 4 wickets in 8 overs by giving 26 runs.
JGCC (GU) started their second innings with the trail of 19 runs and ended up scoring 143 runs with the loss of 9 wickets. None of the players managed to score above 10’s and 20’s except Ruturaj Desai, who scored quick 48 runs in 44 balls. Bowling highlight of the innings were Manan Hingrajia and Jayveersinh Parmar with 3/30 and 3/22 respectively.
RJTC (GU) chased down the score comfortably in just 21.4 overs in their second innings with Manan Hingrajia and Karan Trivedi hitting 45 and 47 runs respectively. Team won the match by 6 wickets and crowned as the champions of Gujarat University Ahmedabad Zone Inter College Cricket Tournament 2017-18.
