Cricket fans in Ahmedabad witnessed a nail-biting finish and a dominant display on Day 6 of the exciting Cricket Premier League (CPL)
The Gandhinagar Lions emerged victorious in a close encounter against the Ahmedabad Arrows, winning by a mere 1 run. Openers Sanpreet Bagga and Abhishek Desai laid a solid foundation for the Lions with a 50-run partnership. Bagga continued his onslaught, smashing a brilliant century (114 runs) to propel the Lions to a formidable total of 196/2 in their allotted 20 overs.
The Ahmedabad Arrows fought valiantly in their chase, with Smit Patel (50 runs) and Smit J Patel (21 runs) providing a strong start. However, the Lions' bowlers kept things tight, restricting the Arrows to 195/8, falling just short of the target. Sanpreet Bagga was deservedly named the Player of the Match for his match-winning knock.
The Karnavati Kings registered a convincing 28-run win over the Sabarmati Strikers in the second match of the day. Opting to bat first, the Kings rode on a solid performance from Priyesh Patel (46 runs) and Rudra Patel (27 runs) to post a competitive total of 192/6. The bowling attack, led by Siddharth Desai (3 wickets) and Jenil Dholakia (2 wickets), choked the Strikers' chase, restricting them to 164/10 in 18.3 overs. Aditya Patel, with a well-made 48 runs, was the lone bright spark for the Strikers. Priyesh Patel was adjudged the Player of the Match for his all-around contribution.
