Belgrano Women lift Womens Challenge Cup 2021

Belgrano Women 120 in 19.1 overs (Sian Kelly 37*, Tamara Basile 3/10, Constanza Sosa 2/11) beat Lomas Women 60 in 17 overs (Alina Emch 4/7, Indira Paragamian 2/5) by 60 runs.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Belgrano Women managed to get a total of 120 runs in their innings. They did not get a great start from the openers and the top order. In fact, Belgrano Women lost their first four wickets on the score of just 29 runs. Tamara Basile, Soledad Aloy and Constanza Sosa provided early breakthroughs for Lomas Women, after the fall of fourth wicket, Indira Paragamian and Adriana Ponte added 29 runs for the fifth wicket and raised slight hopes for the batting side. It was Sian Kelly down the order whose innings of unbeaten 37 runs helped the defending side surpass the total of 100 runs, in the end Belgrano Women were bowled out for 120 runs in the last over of the innings. Tamara Basile was picked of the bowlers with excellent figures of 3/10 in her three overs while Constanza Sosa and Soledad Aloy scalped a couple of wickets each to their names. 

With the bowling unit having already done the job, now it was the turn of batting to chase down the target of 121 runs and win the trophy. But Belgrano Women came out with other plans, they absolutely stunned the batting line-up of Lomas Women. At a time, Lomas Women were 7 runs for four wickets down, courtesy, some disciplined bowling by Belgrano Women. In the innings that lasted only 16 overs, not even a single batter from the batting side was able to get above the 5-run mark. In fact half of the Lomas Women's side was dismissed on duck. It was ample number of extras in the second innings that helped Lomas Women get to a score of 60 runs, else they would have been bowled out for just 20 runs. From the bowling side, Alina Emch bowled her heart out to bag four wickets to her name, Eugenia Di Menna and Indira Paragamian picked up two wickets each while Jazmin Brusco figures read 1/6 in her three overs. And in the end, Belgrano Women won in style by a huge margin of 60 runs.

Now let's throw some light on the statistics of the season, Sian Kelly remained on top of the table in terms of runs scored, she added 124 runs in three innings with an impressive strike rate of 142. Sofi Bruno from Albano Women was the top wicket-taker with six wickets in three innings. 

Womens Challenge Cup 2021 has been completed and Belgrano Women were absolutely sensational on the day of the final, after getting bowled out for a small total, they still managed to win the game by 60 runs. With this, we bid goodbye to all, stay safe, cheers!.
