The Royal Varsani 108/3 in 19.5 overs (Simon Ssesazi 51*, Robinson Obuya 31, Frank Akankwasa 2/9) beat Mamba Challengers 107/5 in 20 overs (Emmanuel Hasahya 27, Siraje Nsubuga 3/10, Jonathan Kiiza 2/30) by 7 wickets.
The Royal Varsani came out to chase down a gettable total of 108 runs, with Ssesazi in good form, it would have been an easy task for Varsani. Ssesazi did not dissapointed at all as he played the role of sheet anchor to remain unbeaten for 51. Though, Alankwasa and Wabwire tried to restrict them but could not do so as they were defending a timid total. Otwani was gone on duck, but, Obuya and contributed 31 runs to the team total. He and Ssesazi added 62 runs for the second wicket. From the bowling, Alankwasa and Wabwire were the lone wicket-takers with 2 and 1 wicket respectively.
Losing the toss, Challengers came out to bat first, they began their innings with a very slow approach and had added only 51 runs on the completion of half of the innings. Nsubuga did a fine spell of 3/10 helped Varsani restrict Challengers on a mere total of 107 runs, he was well accompanied by Kiiza who stuck a couple of wickets against 30 runs. Hasahya was the top scorer with 27 runs which included two maximums.
Aziz Damani Scorpions 106/5 in 18.2 overs (Shazad Kamal 37*, Wasim Butt 34, David Wabwire 2/21) beat Mamba Challengers 105/6 in 20 overs (Kenneth Waiswa 29*, Lawrence Ssempijja 2/16, Gerald Mubiru 1/11) by 5 wickets.
As Butt and Arinaitwe came out in the middle to open the Scorpions innings, they had to chase down a small total of 106 runs in 120 balls. They started brilliantly and added 48 runs in 6.2 overs before Butt was gone on the score of 34. Soon Arinaitwe also departed but they had already given a solid start to their side. Though, Scorpions lost 5 wickets but they chased down the total comfortably in the end in 18.2 overs. Wabwire struck two wickets while Irfan and Ssenyondo took a wicket each to their name.
Challengers won the toss and elected to bat first. But Wabwire and Mwebaze had other ideas and they struck with a double-breakthrough in the powerplay. Thawithemwira, Waiswa and Akankwasa made contributions of 19, 29 and 19 respectively which helped Challengers to get their score above 100. Ssempijja also bowled brilliantly took a couple with 2/16 in his four overs.
The second day of Uganda Elite League comes to end, it was a good day overall but not for Mamba Challengers as they lost both their games. They need to rethink on their strategies and batsmen needs to take more responsibilty, bowlers are doing a decent job but they are not getting enough of runs.
