In India, cricket is considered as religion more than just a sport, and we all are aware of the fact how much the cricketers from different classes of society are passionate about the game. It is not only playing the sport, but also some youngsters apspire to contribute to the game by becoming officials. In order to fulfil their dreams, Omtex has decided to provide them assistance by gifting a brand fresh Cricket Institute at the outskirts of Mumbai.
With a vision to provide platform to the youth, the Omtex and ICWC Cricket Institute launched its world class high performance cricket academy during a Zoom Meeting held on Sunday. The launch was attended by cricket lovers from India and world over along with West Indian legend and well-wisher Mr Alvin Kallicharan. “This is a very good initiative by Omtex and ICWC Cricket. The academy will cater to modern day cricketers and will be a sure shot success story. Whenever you need my assistance I will be there for you,” said Kallicharan. The Omtex-ICWC Cricket Institute which is based in Saphale, a town in Palghar District, is not just another regular academy, but it is more than that with residential facilities available to cricketers. The academy not just has an excellent and picturesque outdoor facility with lush green outfield, surrounded by hills, but also indoor facility too, with different types of wickets from fast bouncy to a rank turner available to the batsmen to get used to playing on different pitches. The Omtex ICWC Cricket Institute is highly equipped with advanced cutting-edge technology and video analysis which will also help to keep track of cricketer's growth. The institute isn’t just restricted to cricketers, but also have different programs for Coaches, Curators, Umpires, Scorers, Commentators, Anchors/Emcees who want to make a career out of it in these respective fields. Experts and professionals from various disciplines will be guiding the students pursuing these courses. The Institute will also play host to all age group tournaments along with inter-school, corporates to go with academy tournaments apart from the regular match simulation practice. Coming to the structure of institute, it has a 65-yard ground surrounded by light towers. The indoor area is about 14,400 sq. ft. and is one of the largest cricket indoor facilities in the world. The latest bowling machines and video analysis facility is a blessing to go with. There is a bunker based cafeteria and Yoga & Meditation Centres inside the institute which will attract the visitors.
This high class campus will offer a great deal to international teams, IPL teams and Ranji teams in organising a camp before leaving for a crucial assinment. In fact, countries like Kenya, Bermuda and Uganda have already shown keen interest towards it.
Mr Vijay Patel, owner of Omtex Sports, was excited at the launch of the Omtex ICWC Cricket Institute and said the plans are to start by November. “If all goes well we will start operating by November. It’s a high performance academy where we will cater to each and every need of cricketer with the help of technology. We have accommodation facilities in the camp and we have also tied up with different resorts too. Safale is famous for its beaches so it will be more than cricket too”, says Mr Patel with a smile.
