Challengers STH 122/6 in 20 overs (Sean-Lee Thomas 34, Mike-e Williams 26, Gareth Johnson 3/26) beat Levelwood Allstars 114 in 17.5 overs (Ross Henry 34, Jordi Henry 3/13, Andrew Yon 2/21) by 8 runs.
Welcome back folks, here we are again and today we will give you match report of an exciting contest between Challengers and Allstars. It was the Challengers who won the toss and elected to bat first, they boarded 122 on board. Levelwood Allstars had to achieve a target that was supposed to be chased quite swiftly, but on the contrary they succumbed on 114 and lost the match by eight runs. Allstars' problems started with Gareth Johnson, the star performer with the ball faced as many as seven deliveries and was out on zero without troubling the scorers. It was Ross Henry who kept the score-board ticking before he was dismissed for 34. In the middle-order, there were contributions of 10,11,20 but no one was really able to make an impact. They lost wickets in heap and suffered. From the bowling unit, Jordi Henry was pick of the bowlers as he dismissed three of the Challengers' batsmen. Along with him, Joey, Sean-Lee and Andrew Yon also took a couple of wickets each. Their combined bowling performance proved too good for the batting side. Challengers were bowled out for 114 before the last ball of the eighteenth over.
As the opening duo of Challengers arrived, it was expected a good start from them. Andrew Yon and Langham provided them with a steady start, but by the end of power-play, Allstars had the upper hand. Challengers score was 29/2 after the end of six overs and both their openers were back in pavillion then. Then there was a healthy partnership between Mike-e Williams and Sean-Lee Thomas for the third wicket, they added 62 runs. But as soon as Williams departed, there was again a mini collapse and after 16 overs, Challengers were 98 with half of their team back in pavillion. In the end, they managed to get 122 on the board. In bowling, Gareth Johnson was best of the bowlers as his figures were 3/26. Brendon Leo too was excellent with his 2/9 in his quota of four overs.
This was another game of Round Three and Challengers' did well to win this one. They held their nerves well in tough situations. They know there will be more challenging games coming up on their way. Let's see, what happens in the upcoming days, till then, goodbye, cheers!
