From the streets of Dapoli (Ratnagiri - MS) to umpiring in the Pre Qualifier Tournament for Asia Cup, Riyaz Kurupkar's journey has been a roller-coaster ride. He has been an example to his juniors and emerging umpires who aspire to officiate on big stage. Riyaz started his education in cricket umpiring with Maharashtra Cricket Association at Pune in 2012. Two years later, he raised himself to work as a cricket umpire with Qatar Cricket Association. Till now, Riyaz has officiated in domestic cricket tournaments in Doha and Pre Qualifier Tournament for Asia Cup. Umpiring in Pre Qualifier was a big highlight in his career as it a very prestigious tournament. Apart from his career highlights, Riyaz is part of Asian Cricket Council and he is also Cricket Australia Accredited Level II Umpire.
His hard work and determination has brought him every success, there is still a long ladder to climb for him, he will surely come up with more and more success. Riyaz's modesty and his down-to-earth attitude has earned him immense respect in QCA. Whenever he is praised or asked about his career, he never forgets to thank Almighty Allah for his success. Adding to it, he also thanks his parents, his spouse, siblings Sabir and Saami who have always been there in his ups and downs. He says that their prayers, blessings and support has helped him in every phase of his life. The story of Riyaz Kurupkar has been fascinating and inspiring. At a very young age of 36, he is already a member of Qatar Cricket Association and there is still a long way to go for him in future.
