New Young Star Cricket Club Kharod 130/9 in 18 overs (Irfan Jogiyat 33, Rizwan Kazi 25*, Azaz 4/29) beat Bharuch Luvara 129/9 in 20 overs (Sletar Ali 34, Safwan Namaji 25, Rizwan Kazi 3/25) by 1 wicket.
Young Stars were given a mediocre target of 130 runs in 20 overs. They just needed to make sure, they not lose many wickets at the outset, rest will take care of itself. But, on the contrary, Bharuch Luvara came hard against the batsmen. They struck with an early breakthrough in the very first over when Azaz sent Hansrod back into pavillion for just two runs. And after that, they kept losing wickets. Azaz and Sarfraj bowled with accurate lines and lengths, they knew only wickets can make the game for them. After 17 overs, Young Stars were 105 for the loss of nine wickets, courtesy some brilliant piece of bowling from Azaz (4/29) and Sarfraj (3/16). They still needed 25 runs in three overs with just a wicket in hand and Bharucha Luvara were obvious favourites at that moment of contest. Then came Rizwan Kazi, he literally smashed the bowlers and took his team to an impossible victory out of nowhere. In fact, the 25 runs which the batting side needed in 3 overs came in one over only. He hit three maximums and a four in his 8-ball-25.
It was Young Star's decision to invite Bharuch Luvara for batting first. Bharuch Luvara were going really good and safe until the fourth over when Jabir Gulam struck with a breakthrough, he dismissed struggling Sarfraj for a duck. Soon, set Namaji and Yamin also departed just before the Powerplay. Now the onus was on skipper who had to take the innings forward and guide his team to a formidable total. Ali first added 31 runs with Azaz for the fourth wicket and then he added another 31 runs with Salman Patel for the fifth wicket. As soon as he started to accelerate his gears, Ali also got out for 34, and after his dismissal no one was able to take Bharuch Luvara to a defendable total, they kept losing wickets towards the end of their innings. In the end, they were able to get 129 runs on board. Rizwan Kazi's 3-fer and Hansrod's 2/17 helped them restrict Bharuch Luvara to a small total.
Young Stars are now the champions of season 1, thanks to Rizwan Kazi who single handedly won the game for them. He came like a storm and rolled the game 360 degrees into his favour. His unbeaten 25 and 3/25 in bowling has outplayed opposition. Bharuch Luvara lost the game in 18th over, until then, they had the grip on Young Stars, they just couldn't resist Kazi. So that was it from our side, goodbye, cheers!
