AIIMS Team A 139/4 in 20 overs (Dr. Dharmendra 76*, Muhammed Thanveer 25, Rajat Soni XXX 2/24) beat SN Medical College 111/9 in 20 overs (Dr Praveen Dewasi 37*, Vinay Vishnoi 32, Muhammed Thanveer 3/14) by 28 runs.
Dr Sudhir and Vinay Vishnoi were the two batsmen who began the chase for SN Medical College. They needed 7 runs per over from the start and it was not supposed to be a typical ask if things would've went well for them. But unfortunately, Thanveer upset them with a first blow on the very first delivery of second innings, he sent Dr Sudhir back into pavillion. Now, the pressure was on the batting side right from the outset and Vishnoi had to made sure, he stays on wicket. But he didn't get any support from his fellow batsmen, Avinash and Dr Rahul were not able to make any contribution with the bat as they just added 2(11) and 1 run respectively for their team. In fact, apart from Vishnoi and Dewasi, no one was able to make a healthy contribution. They lost wickets at regular intervals and it became very ardous for them to take the chase. Thanveer was phenominal in his bowling efforts, he took 3 for 14 in four overs which included a maiden. Priyansh Sharma also bowled well for his one wicket, he bowled three overs and gave away just eight runs. After 20 overs, SN Medical College were 111/9 and fell short by 28 runs, AIIMS Team A won the Aura Cricket 2020 Tournament.
AIIMS Team A elected to bat first after winning the toss, and Dr. Dharmendra anchored the innings really well as he remained unbeaten on 76. Though, they lost couple of wickets early, but Arora and Dr. Dharmendra made sure AIIMS A not lose anymore wickets. Though, they were slow in their approach, but they added 69 runs for the third wicket. Then came Thanveeer, he added quick runs for his team as AIIMS A were lacking behind in terms of their run-rate, they were 86/3 after 15 overs. Thanveer and Dharmendra changed their gears in last five overs, they added 53 runs in last 30 balls and gave the target of 140 for SN Medical College. From the bowling side, Rajat Soni was the best of all, he took 2/24.
Aura Cricket 2020 has now come to end and it was delight to see that players taking responsibilty and showing character. Hope we see the same level of game in next season as well, till then, goodbye!
