The Battalion XI 195/4 in 20 overs (Shafaqat Ali 57, Khurram Saeed 48, Shahid Noor 1/23) beat Al Ramool CC (ISE) 173/8 in 20 overs (Naseeb Khan 67, Rizwan Ahmed 39, Khurram Saeed 3/25) by 22 runs.
196 was what Al Ramool CC wanted to chase to lift the ECT-Dubai B Division Cup. But Khurram Saeed and Anwar Ayub had other plans as they restricted Al Ramool to 173 and won the game for The Battalion by 22 runs. Well if we talk about the batting of Al Ramoon, they were well in the game right from the outset. After eight overs they were 95/1, Naseeb Khan and Rizwan Ahmed laid out the perfect platform for the chase, but as soon as Ahmed went into pavillion, Al Ramoon lost their way all around and kept losing wickets. Hassan contributed 23 runs but no one was really able to take onus and bat through the innings to guard the chase. Khurram Saeed took rid of the middle-order with three wickets and Anwar Ayub also picked up couple of wickets to help The Battalion XI win the trophy.
At the start, The Battalion won the toss and elected to bat first. No doubts if Khurram Saeed could've done anything wrong today, as he went on to give The Battalion a flying start. He, with Shafaqat Ali added 67 for the first wicket before he was out on 48 which contained four boundaries and five maximums, his short innings of 18 balls had set the platform for The Battalion for a 200-plus total. Himanshu Yadav was sent at number 4 and he didn't disappointed his skipper as he remained unbeated on 44, he finished well for The Battalion. Al Ramoon used their seven bowlers, leaving Hassan and Fahad, everyone went for plenty of runs, Naseeb Khan bowled the fifth over of innings and he gave 28 runs in that over.
Khurram Saeed's all-round show was certainly the main difference between the two sides, he scored 48 with the bat and took three wickets with the ball. Now that Battalion XI having won the trophy, they should be happy with their players performing in crucial contests.
