Tech M 70/4 in 10 overs (Rajat Bhattalwar 35, AV Bandekar 15*, Arif Shaikh 1/9) defeated WNS (GC) 57 in 9.5 overs (Vikram Rao 16, VK Reddy 3/10, Gufran Khan 2/14) by 13 runs.
Dear folks, the sixth T-10 Corporate Cricket League goes to Tech M. It was the bowling of Tech M that bewildered the chasing side and won the match by 13 runs. In fact, WNS were bundled out at the end of their innings and their dream of lifting the trophy remained as such.
Chasing 71 in 60 balls, WNS's outset was not so appreciable as two of their batsmen went to pavillion without troubling the scorer in the very first over. Gurfan Khan demolished the batting side by taking the middle-order on his hand. Though, Vikram Rao showed some resistance by scoring a run-a-ball 16, but it was just not enough on the day, towards the end, Sourabh Rawat's four and a six lifted their spirits up but fate took him for a run-out. WNS kept losing wickets and made themselves arrive in a wierd situation at the end. They needed 18 off the last over with two wickets in hand, VK Reddy finished the game after Arif Shaikh was caught of his bowling by Thakre.
Before this, Tech M won the toss and elected to bat first in a high-pressure game. Ankit Thakre, the skipper was on a very slow side as he took 16 deliveries for his 6 runs, but his partner Rajat Bhattalwar played the match-winning innings before he was unfortunately run out on 35. Sachin Pimprikar and R Kasliwal couldn't do much but Amit Bandekar played a fantastic cameo innings of 15 runs towards the end of first half. A Kore and A Shaikh bowled really well to contain the batting side, they gave nine runs each in their respective couple of overs. On the other hand, Kurhe and Gulshan Chahar went for eight-plus runs per over. The target of 70 which first seemed to be a below-par score was proven wrong by the defending side's bowling unit, as they showed their skills, patience and applied themselves according to the scenario.
Well, the sixth season has been a treat to watch for the spectators and an experience to be enjoyed by the participators. Tech M, the team with the tag of the 'Consistents' have certainly proved themselves as they register their third title win. The tournament has been a thriller and all these 32 teams from Pune have given us a true dose of entertainment from this very ground of Symbiosis.
