Youth Sports Club 128/4 in 10.5 overs (Qureshi 82, Sauda 16*, Robin 2/13) defeated Shyam Sports Club 125 in 20 overs (Sachin Tyagi 29, N Dhiman 4/18, Nadeem 3/25) by 6 wickets.
The final of the Gannaur Corporate T20 Blast witnessed fireworks from the bat of Anish Qureshi. In the bowling, Nirmal Dhiman and Nadeem were excellent as well. The Youth Sports Club first dismissed Shyam Sports Club on 125 and then chased down the target with ease. Having asked to chase 126, YSC lost Deepak Kumar early, but it was going to be more difficult for the defending side as Qureshi was in his own mood. He smashed 82 runs off just 30 deliveries to go with 5 boundaries and 9 maximums. Sauda, the other opener rotated the strike and towards the end it was Deepu and Anil who took the responsibility of getting Youth Sports Club to the title. For the bowling side, apart from Robin who took couple of wickets, everyone went for hitting. You have to be accurate in your lines and lengths when you are defending a small total but they were short and majority of runs of YSC came on the square of the wicket.
Batting first, Shyam Sports Club's start was not very significant as they lost their opening batsmen by the end of second over. Captain played the role of sheet anchor with Robin as both of them added 54 runs for the third wicket. As soon as Robin was out, SSC lost their way round and collapsed for mere 125. Nirmal Dhiman and Nadeem scalped four and three wickets respectively, Qureshi also took a couple and proved his all-round ability.
Over the last three months we have witnessed quality cricket in the Gannaur Tournament and it has been a tournament to remember. Both the top teams from pool A reached the finals, but Youth Sports Club won the trophy with an emphatic performance. The T-20 cricket is ever-evolving and the tournaments like Gannaur T-20 Blast are a mere media. These corporate leagues add a flavour to the game which helps its audience in enjoying and as well as promoting the game.
