1st Ashok Goel Memorial U-14 Cricket Tournament 2017 was organized between 4th Oct.’17 to 31st Oct.’17 at New Delhi.
Out of 8 participant teams, the final of this tournament was played between Vidya Jain Cricket Academy and HRS Sports on 31st Oct.’17 at Sarvodaya Bal Vidyalaya Shakurpur, New Delhi.
HRS Sports won the toss and elected to field. Decision certainly did not go well as Vidya Jain Cricket Academy started to score well from the early overs. Opening batsmen Varun Yadav (c) and Rushal Saini gave team a good start. Partnership between Rushal Saini (96) and Jitendra Kumar (65) took team to a very strong position. Vidya Jain Cricket Academy ended up scoring 221 runs at the end of 40 overs by losing 7 wickets.
On the other hand, HRS Sports did not get a very good start while chasing the target of 222 runs. Team started to fumble from the beginning. None of the players managed to stay on crease for long and team bundled up scoring 111 in 27.5 overs. Paaven Kapur from Vidya Jain Cricket Academy bowled extremely well as he took 6 wickets in 6 overs.
Vidya Jain Cricket Academy won the final by 110 runs against HRS sports.
