Banex Communications 82/10 in 14.3 overs (Shaikh 43, Syed 23, Pradip 4/6) lost to Manjeet Pride XI 84/4 in 11.0 overs (Pritesh 28, Bharade 20, Shaikh 2/20) by 6 wickets
The third season of Champions Trophy organized by Lucky Sports in the city of Aurangabad, Maharashtra concluded with some domination of ball over bat. The 21 team tournament went on for 19 days before we finally had a champion and on the way we saw some memorable performances by some of the most talented cricketers in the city and from around.
With three batsmen and as many bowlers in top 10 Banex Communication were a force to reckon with throughout the tournament but Manjeet Pride XI weren’t behind by any means. The second finalist had Pradip Jagdale, the leading wicket-taker of the tournament in their XI. On the noon of 13th September, exactly at 2 PM, both the captains went out for the toss. BC won the toss and elected to bat first.
The two Shaikhs, Sadique and Yaasar walked out to open the inning for the Banex Communication. While Yassar went on to make a 43, Sadique was unfortunate enough to face a ripper from Jagdale in the second over of the Inning. The pair of Noor-Ul-Haq and Yassar stitched down a partnership of 43 when the team was 19 for 2 in the fourth over but unfortunately it was not sufficient. Once Yassar departed, the inning disintegrated. Banex Communication lost their final 8 wickets for just 20 runs and were bundled out for their lowest score of the season. Pradip was the chief destroyer with his figures of 2.3-0-6-4.
After the failure of their top guns with the bat, Banex Communication were looking for some magic with the ball. 82 is not a target any bowling lineup would love to defend in a final but there’s actually no better place to do it. That’s the belief their coach tried to inflict on the bowlers. Unfortunately it didn’t work out when they went out on the ballpark. Pritesh and Ajay got 41 off the target within the first 5 overs. Ajay departed after a scratchy 9 but Pritesh kept slaughtering the bowlers on the other end.
Banex Communication managed to hunt down 4 wickets but they had almost nothing on the board to defend. Pritesh (28) along with some decent contributions from Bharade (20) and Pradip (11) gunned down the target with almost half of the overs still in the bag.
