Mavericks 99/8 in 15 overs ( Pradeep 51, Bala 16, Suresh 2/10) lost to Dire Wolves 101/4 in 11.5 overs (Yogesh 39, Sumit 30, Harish 1/5) by 6 wickets
Hyderabad edition of Pega premier league concluded here at the Elite cricket ground with an easy victory for the Dire Wolves. Organized by Pegasystems Hyderabad, the tournament entertained the spectators as well as the followers on cricheroes for two months. 23 teams split across 4 groups’ participated in a league cum double super 8 cum knockout format.
Dire Wolves who topped the group D entered the final undefeated. The other finalist, Mavericks topped the group B and they too lost only one game throughout the tournament. On the morning of 29th August, at 9:50, both the captains walked out for the toss. The coin landed in the favor of Wolves and they elected to chase.
Mavericks got off to a horrible start as they lost Anish and Uday in the very first over. Uday especially was a bit unlucky with his dismissal which was caused as a result of a misunderstanding. A 34 run partnership between Pradeep and Rajendra meant the Mavericks were on the way to make a comeback but the skipper became second victim of Sushant’s brilliance in the field.
Pradeep held one end but after the departure of Rajendra, the Inning collapsed from other end. Bala tried to stabilize it with his 16 ball 13 but unfortunately his effort was too short to have any impact. The lower order could provide no resistance and the Mavericks finished with 99 in their quota of 15 overs.
Wolves lost the man with rocket arms, Sushant in the second over of their chase. The number 3, Yogesh (39 off 33) began a counterattack while Kishore enjoyed the assault from the other end. Skipper Kishore departed in the 5th over after a partnership of 22 after a communication error but that could not affect Yogesh by any mean. After a duck from Ravi, Sumit (30 off 18) joined the party and the pair added 64 off just 39 balls. Harish got rid of Sumit but it was too late till then. Harsh joined Yogesh to complete the formalities.
