Tamil Willows 142/10 in 23.3 overs (Jay 29, Bhubesh 23, Lani 2/22) lost to ARCC Cricket Club 143/7 in 23.3 overs (Chirag 38, Atul 19, Naveen 3/29) by 3 wickets
The summer special, Summer Premier League 2019 concluded here at Athena Sports ground with ARCC taking the title after beating Tamil Willows by 3 wickets in the final. The tournament that began back in May, saw some great encounters in past three months. The tournament also connected the ICC cricket World Cup and the ICC test league for the cricket fans.
Tamil Willows who finished the league phase ranked second in group B won the toss and elected to bat first against their opposition, ARCC who were ranked third in group A. They qualified the knockouts with some close games while TW had a smooth campaign so far.
Ankit and Muralimohan got TW off the mark but the opening partnership was broken early in the inning by Lani. After the departure of Ankit, TW found themselves in great amount of trouble. They were reduced to 6 for 55 and it looked like getting over quicker than anyone would have thought.
Bhubesh joined Prashant in the rescue operation after the departure of his Skipper in the middle and a partnership of 29 ensured some relief but a good score was still too far from them when Prashant got out. The tail was about to give up but Jay (29 off 26) had other ideas. Along with Mohammad Niyas he added 40 runs for the final wicket which gave a respectable total on board for the bowlers to defend.
ARCC's chase was steady and by 12th over, they had half of the target off the board and it cost them just two wickets but once Chirag (38 off 28) departed, their inning wobbled a bit. They slumped to 103/6 from 86/2 but Sid (17) and Vaibhav (13) took them past the line without many hiccups.
