FH Super Kings 108/5 in 10 overs (Pradee 50, Prasath 20, Rajamani 1/19) defeated Pulp Mill Rockers 41/10 in 9.1 overs (Subbu 17, Prasath 3/5) by 67 runs
DPL 2019 concluded here at TNPL ground Karur with some massive sixes as well as breath-taking spells of bowling. The tournament that began a month ahead of ICC cricket World Cup finished with just a day to go for The Ashes. Maybe the organizers planned it that way so the players could actually enjoy the leather ball cricket whoky entertaining the crowd with Tennis ball? Kudos to them.
We usually don’t see Tennis ball tournaments go on for so long but this idea of a league scattered across months in fact, over 100 tennis ball tournaments were scored at cricheroes during the course of DPL 2019. 9 teams went head to head in a league cum knockout format, pretty much like IPL ( But with single round robin format).
Super kings entered the final after slaying the tournament favourites, Friends CC while their opposition, Pulp Mill Rockers defeated their own brothers in the semifinals , the Pulp Mill Capitals. The team from Pulp mill were looking for a revenge in the finals, the revenge of their narrow defeat in the league stage.
On the morning of the finals, PMR won the toss and they invited Super Kings to bat first and the decision turned out to be horrendous for them. The Super Kings openers plundered 54 within first 6 overs and a start of that quality means a lot in a 10 over game. It provides a facility for the lower order batsman to go for the Glory, from ball one and that too, without caring much for the wickets. The lower order made full use of the solid launchpad set up in the initial overs and Super Kings finished with a massive 108/5. Pradee thrashed 50 off 27 balls with the help of four fours and three massive sixes (Some of them yet to land)
The spectators expected a fightback in the second inning. Who wants a dull final after a wait for 4 months ? No one actually but unfortunately the PMR disappointed their fans with the bat too. They failed to make any impact at all. Apart from Subbu (17) none of their batsmen could touch the double digits. The pair of Mahendran (2.1-0-9-3) and Prasath (2-0-5-3) destroyed their middle and lower order for fun but the man who made it possible was Pradee, their first inning hero with the bat (Yep, again). He tortured the top order with his brilliance and finished the game with 3 wickets for 9 runs in his three overs. Super Kings finished the tournament with the magic they began with.
