SV Team 61/10 in 8.4 overs (Prabhakar 19, Venkatesh 17, Shriniwas 3/7) lost to Maurya Solapur 63/4 in 7.2 overs ( Parashuram 23, Shekhar 16, Prakash 1/12) by 6 wickets
SV team had their wonderful campaign concluded with a shock defeat to the hands of Maurya Solapur in the finals of MPL 2019. MS chased down the target of 61 without much trouble thanks to some wonderful individual performances from Shriniwas and Parashuram.
Maurya Solapur won the toss and elected to field first. They had their opposition against the wall from start. SV team lost their opener in the very first over when Naresh removed Somnath with a scorcher. Prabhakar played some glorious shots for his 19 but he couldn’t prevent the top order collapse. SV team never gained any momentum in their inning and as soon as their skipper departed, they were back in the hut with an ordinary score on board.
A tournament where average score is 75, you can’t expect to win the game with just 61 on board in the first inning. Solapur had some of the hardest hitters in their XI for the final and the job was nothing less than a nightmare for any bowling lineup when they are on full throttle.
SV team had their opposition in a position initially in the second inning from where they could have dreamt of something spectacular. The first balls of first two overs accounted for both the Solapur openers. In a tennis ball game, you can expect the game to turn it’s head any moment but nothing like that happened thanks to Parashuram (23 off 14) who sailed his team over the line with 16 balls still in the bag.
