V.K 46/8 in 10 overs (Pavan 17, Venkatesh 11, R.K.Patel 2/10) lost to Bule Redirs 47/1 in 5.4 overs (R.K.Patel 21, Bunny 17, Venky 1/14) by 9 wickets
2 days full of action and drama came to an end with Venky bowling wide down the leg side. The final was a rather low scoring encounter where Bule Redirs chased 46 in in 5.4 overs to claim the title. The 9 team tournament was played in a league cum knockout format.
VK won the toss on the morning of the final and elected to bat first. They lost their captain early but Venkatesh and Pavan ensured that there’s no further damage. The pair stitched down a partnership of 29 runs but just when things looked like going their way, Sam got rid of Pavan who had no answer to a beautifully delivered slower one and he let it pass the defense.
The wicket of Pavan opened door for a collapse. VK lost rest of their 8 wickets for just 15 runs in 3.3 overs. They were aiming to go big for most of those deliveries and in fact that was the method which bought them in the finals but under extreme pressure, you have to give up on your temptation. They failed to do that were bundled out for a below average total of 46.
The Redirs knew from the beginning that they have a small total to chase and hence they decided to do the job with singles and doubles. R.K Patel (21) and Bunny (17) played with a calm mind and by the time VK could get their first breakthrough, the game was over. VK paid the price of some empty headed batting in the first inning where 9 of their batsmen failed to reach the double digit score; in fact none of those 9 could even get to 5.
