Bagra Titans Kamal 111/9 in 20 overs (Jitendra 37, Rajender 24, Tinku 4/30) defeated Bagra Diamonds Sarna 47/10 in 20 overs (Tinku 21, Manoj 10, Jitendra 3/5)
The small town of Bagra witnessed some humongous sixes over mid wicket, the classical straight drives between mid on and mid off, the scoops, Pulls, Hooks and Some top class bowling over the past five days. The Bagra Cricket Cup concluded on 21st with some individual brilliance on display from Jitendra, who stole the show as he guided the Bagra Titans home single handedly.
Bagra Titans won the toss and elected to bat first. Tinku Pradhan rattled Raju in the very first over. A partnership was being formed between Rajender and Deepak but Tinku came back in the sixth over and removed both of them. The middle order batsmen failed to steer the scorecard and you can’t expect much from the lower order in a T-20 game.
An inning where most of the batsmen struggled, Jitendra held his fort. He played some sensible cricket and was always looking for the bad balls and everytime he got one, he put them away. The lone effort ensured a target of 112 for the Diamonds. Eight of the eleven Bagra Titans failed to reach the double figures.
Although the first inning score was a below par one, we witnessed scores less than hundred going down to the wire in the tournament. With two of the top five bowlers in their squad, the Titans were always in the game with any target.
The chase never took off for the Diamonds. They lost four of their top batsmen in the powerplay with just 19 on the board. But the worst was yet to come. A collapse followed and they lost next five wickets for just four runs. The game was technically over for them in the tenth over when the scorecard was showing 23/9. The Diamonds skipper retaliated for a moment with his 21 off 15 balls but it was too late. They fell short by 64 runs in a chase of 112, in other words, they were bundled out for a meager 47.
