Harry XI 121/7 in 14 Overs (Vishwarajsinh 55 Rajpalsinh 28, Yuvrajsinh 4/29) defeated RR XI (B) 86/10 in 14 Overs (Mahendrasinh 20, Raj 16, Hardeepsinh 4/22) by 35 runs
42 teams battled it out at Shastri Maidan, Rajkot to be crowned as champions of Late Shri Mahipatsinhji Jadeja tournament 2019. After 12 days of healthy battle, Harry XI and RR XI (B) were set to light up the arena with over a dozen of Royel Rajputana boys fighting it out in the middle.
As the name of the tournament suggests itself, all the players who participated in it were from Rajpoot community. There were quite a few sights of “Jadeja- C: Jadeja B: Jadeja. The two most consistent teams of the tournament, Harry XI and RR XI were ready to fight it out in the final.
With 100% success rate while defending in the tournament, Harry XI elected to bat first as soon as coin landed in their favor. They lost two of their top batsmen within first three overs. Rajpal (28) joined Vishwaraj in the middle 57 off next 37 balls to bail the Harry XI out of trouble. One Rajpal departed, the wickets started tumbling for Harry XI but Vishwajeet kept his composure and guided his team to a total still not achieved in the tournament, before being dismissed for a well made 55 off just 41 balls with the help of 4 fours and 4 sixes.
With a batting lineup that had already chased two scores of 60s within five overs during the course of the tournament, you would have your money on RR XI (B) eight out of ten times. But we must note down the fact that none of the teams could chase a target in three digits during the course of this tournament. The highest total that was chased in the tournament was 95 by Raj Sports against SRP XI. By the end of this paragraph, now you know that Harry XI already had a massive total in their bag.
In the response to massive 121, RR XI (B) got off to a shaky start. They lost three of their top batsmen for just 14 in the first three overs. The start actually was pretty identical to first inning but RR XI (B) could not recover from the mess. A 29 run partnership between Uday (16) and Mahendra (20) built some hopes but that vanished quickly as Hardeep tricked Uday into a false shot and was caught by Indrajitsinh. Some late blows from Raj (16) was not enough as lower middle order could not face the heat blown by Hardeep and Rajdeep and RR XI (B) fell short by 35 runs.
