Parth XI ASLALI 192/7 in 14 overs (Giriraj 62, Harsh 45, Aftab 2/22) defeated Sardar Eleven 114/10 in 10.3 overs (Ankit 28, Dhruvin 24, Kishan 4/34)
A prestigious event, Aslali Youth Night Cricket Tournament was heading into the last day. Another of those highly rated tennis ball cricket tournament where youngsters from all over the city enjoy their time and entertain the spectators was about to reach the peak of excitement. We were into the finals of the tournament and two of the most consistent teams of the tournament, Parth XI and Sardar XI were against each other to fight it out for the glittering trophy.
After being sent in to bat first by the Sardar XI skipper, Parth XI lost Gopi in the very first over. Although they got off to a flier, three of their top batsmen were back in the hut in the third over with 33 on the board. Santosh Shinde departed after a brief struggle and with the wicket of Dipen Patel; half of the Parth XI were enjoying the game from the dugout with half of their overs yet to be bowled. This is where Harsh (45 off 19, 4*4, 6*4) and Giriraj (62 off 23, 2*4, 8*6) joined in hands to notch up an 80 run partnership of just 29 balls. Together they smoked the Sardar XI bowlers all around the park and cleared the fence with ease. Ujjawal Patel joined the fun in the later stages to finish the inning with a massive total of 192 in their 14 overs. The helplessness of Sardar XI bowlers can be understood by the fact that Parth XI hammered 101 runs of last 5 overs.
The chase begin in style for the Sardar XI when Dhruvin smashed 25 runs of the first over, the spectators must have thought that they are up for a ripper. Brijesh came in to bowl second over and got one through to Bhavik and two balls later removed Vishwajitsinh. Any chances of a miracle vanished in the next over when Dhruvin was cleaned up by Kishan Patel. The skipper Ankit Rana and Sailesh tried to delay the inevitable defeat for a moment but once they went back, it was just a formality for the Parth XI. They were bundled out for 114 in 10.3 overs. Kishan Patel literally destroyed the Sardar XI inning with his spell of 4/34.
