14. CPP DTA 67/7 in 12 overs (Jiten 27, Mayur 14, Priytosh 4/5) defeated 37 RTF SEZ 39/10 in 9.4 overs (Priytosh 12, Jayraj 3/8) by 28 runs
66 Teams, 33 days, 545 fours and 137 Sixes. These are the figures from the RSCC Inter department Cricket tournament organized by RSCC. After 33 days of Entertainment, Tension and thrills we finally had top two teams of the tournament facing each other. With both teams having some of the most talented players across the tournament, It was a bit tough to talk about who are the favorites. Hence we at CricHeroes went ahead and enjoyed the game just like you instead of predicting.
The 14 CPP skipper Nayan opted to bat first after winning the toss. Priytosh made the inroads straight away as he nipped out both the openers by the third over. Captain Nayan departed for a four ball duck and with 13 on the scoreboard in 3rd over 14 CPP were in a real mess. Mayur tried to stabilize the inning but kept losing wickets at the other end. Some late Blitz from Jiten ensured that 14.CPP crossed the 65 milestone but they had no answer to Priytosh who finished with four wickets for five runs.
A target of 68 of 72 balls seems like a cakewalk. But the pressure in a final of a prestigious tournament is of different level and not many are blessed enough to cope with it. 37 RTF got pretty similar start to what their opposition had. The 37 RTF batsmen failed to rotate the strike and could not find the boundaries either. At 30 of 4 in 8th over, it looked like the game is going down to the wire but unfortunately it was not the case. They lost their next six wickets for just 9 runs and 14.CPP bundled it out pretty quickly. After his heroics with the ball, Priytosh remained only batsman to reach the double figures for the 37 RTF in otherwise disastrous finals for them.
