One of the most cherished tournaments of Allahabad Cricket Association - Dr. Ravi Varma Junior Division U-19 Cricket League 2018-19 was played between 30th Apr.’19 to 5th Jun.’19 at Allahabad.
Out of 24 participant teams, an interesting final was played between the 2 strongest teams of the tournament- Narbada Prashad Eleven and Anand Sukla Eleven on 4th Jun.’19 at K.P. Inter College Ground- Allahabad.
Electing to bat, Narbada Prashad Eleven posted a reasonable score of 198 runs at the end of 40 overs by losing 7 wickets. Top scorer was Ayush Kesarwani, who made 66 runs off 79 balls with 9 boundaries and 1 six. However, remaining players failed to go beyond 20’s resulted in slow pace. Though Shikhar Srivastava added useful 26 runs during crucial overs, which helped team reach at a decent score. Bowling highlight of the innings was Ashwin Pandey, who scalped 2 wickets in 8 overs giving only 29 runs. Shubh Sharma and Manu Raja too chipped in with 2 wickets each damaging the batting line up of Narbada Prashad Eleven further.
While chasing, Shashank Upadhyay and Abhinav Rai gave Anand Sukla Eleven a great start as they scored 47 and 33 runs respectively at fast rate. It was followed by a good innings by Mudassir Khan with 30 runs 30 balls taking team to a strong position. However, Utkash Kumar from Narbada Prashad Eleven bowled exceptionally well went on picking up wickets at regular intervals trying really well to restrict Anand Sukla Eleven from reaching at the target as he scalped 5 wickets in 8 overs. Though the strong innings from Rohit Madhwar (28) and Krishna Pandey (29) helped them reach at the target of 199 runs in just 30.1 overs with the loss of 6 wickets.
Anand Sukla Eleven posted a 4 wicket win over Narbada Prashad Eleven in the final of Dr. Ravi Varma Junior Division U-19 Cricket League 2018-19.
