Inter Departmental Cricket Championship (Rail Trophy) 2019- organized by GCIOC was played between 12th Feb.’19 to 25th Feb.’19 at Raipur.
18 teams from various departments for railway participated in this much cherished tournament from which, an all-important final was played between Mechanical Railway and WRS on 25th Feb.’19 at SECRSA WRS COLONY, Raipur.
Electing to bat first, Mechanical Railway posted a competitive score of 113 runs in 12 overs by losing 6 wickets. Highest scorers were Ajay Prajapati and Javed Akhtar, who scored 27 and 28 runs respectively at fast pace. The other players too contributed significantly which helped Mechanical Railway set up a good target for the final clash. Though none of the bowlers from WRS managed to restrict the run-flow of Mechanical Railway, M. Ravi Kumar and Brijesh Pandey succeeded in picked up 3 and 2 wickes respectively.
While replying, WRS started to fumble from early overs. None of the players managed to stay strong on crease for a long time and majority of them were restricted in single digits. The only players, who scored in double digits were Rahul Bagde Murti with 17 and 13 runs respectively. Bowling highlight of the innings was Yogesh Nishad, who scalped 3 wickets in 3 overs. Kamlakant Sahu too chipped in with 2 wickets damaging the batting line up of WRS badly. Team closed their innings at a meager score of 58 runs at the end of 12 overs with the loss of 9 wickets.
Mechanical Railway posted a huge 55 run win over WRS in the final of Inter Departmental Cricket Championship (Rail Trophy) 2019.
Javed Akhtar from Mechanical Railway was awarded as the player of the match for his significant contribution.
