7th Urja Cup 2019 was organized between 4th Feb.’19 to 9th Feb.’19 at Vadodara.
18 teams from various sectors participated in this highly followed tournament from which, an all-important final was played by MGVCL XI and R R Kabel Ltd. on 9th Feb.’19 at Motibaug Cricket Ground- Vadodara.
R R Kabel Ltd elected to bowl first after winning the toss. Batting first, MGVCL XI got a very good start with both the opening batsman Jitu Gamit and Amit Patel scoring 15 and 47 runs at stable pace. It was followed by good innings by A D Bhavsar and D P Patel, who added 18 and 21 runs respectively at fast rate, which helped team reach at a strong position. MGVCL XI posted a good score of 147 runs at the end of 20 overs with the loss of 9 wickets. Pick of the bowlers was Kaumil Patel, who took 3 wickets in 4 overs giving 20 runs. Dhaval Patel too contributed well by picking up 3 more wickets restricting the opponent from putting up a big score.
While chasing, R R Kabel Ltd too got a very good start with Ravindra Mahida and Deepak Varude smashing 34 and 29 runs respectively at fast pace. Captain Maulik Shukla too played really well and added 26 runs off 17 balls during crucial overs. However, wickets kept falling at regular intervals and team end up losing all the wickets in 19.3 overs at the score of 132 runs. Chief wrecker was Snehal from MGVCL XI, who scalped 4 important wickets in 4 overs damaging the batting line up of R R Kabel Ltd terribly. Jitu Gamit and RR Patel too chipped in with 2 wickets each rattling the rival’s boat completely.
MGVCL XI won the final of 7th Urja Cup 2019 by 15 runs against R R Kabel Ltd.
Snehal from MGVCL XI was awarded as the player of the match for his outstanding contribution.
