Merhi Cricket Tournament 2019 was organized between 19th Jan.’19 to 5th Feb.’19 at Suriyawan.
41 teams from various cities participated in this highly followed tournament from which, an all-important final was played between S.C.A. Varanasi and Kings XI Suriyawan on 5th Feb.’19 at Merhi- Suriyawan.
Electing to bat, S.C.A. Varanasi got an excellent start with opening batsman Saurabh Vishwakarma scoring 57 runs off 36 balls including 8 boundaries. The other key player was Shubham Chaubey, who smashed 64 runs in just 29 balls with 6 boundaries and 5 sixes. Captain Din Dayal Mishra too played a good innings and added useful 36 runs at fast rate helping team post a big score of 215 runs at the end of 20 overs by losing 5 wickets. None of the bowlers from Kings XI Suriyawan managed to restrict the run-flow of S.C.A. Varanasi.
While replying, Kings XI Suriyawan failed to get a good start and team went on losing wickets from early overs. Highest scorers were Ram Chand Yadav and Shailesh Ray, who scored 30 and 29 runs respectively at fast rate helping team reach at a stable position. Despite trying really well,m team did not manage to score at required pace and ended up scoring 155 runs at the end of 20 overs with the loss of 7 wickets.
S.C.A. Varanasi registered a glorious 60 run win over Kings XI Suriyawan in the final of Merhi Cricket Tournament 2019.
Shubham Dubey from S.C.A. Varanasi was awarded as the player of the match for his outstanding contribution.
